What's new in this version:

AirPort 2.0 software works with all versions of Airport cards and base stations. In the event that you are using AirPort 2.0 with earlier versions of the AirPort Card and/or Airport Base Station, your hardware may be upgraded with new features and capabilities.

AirPort 2.0 supports the following new features:

AOL support
128-bit Encryption
Cisco LEAP client support

Upon launching AirPort 2.0, customers using earlier, 40-bit versions of the AirPort Card, will be automatically upgraded to a new version of the card firmware. New client-side features include: 128-bit encryption and Cisco LEAP support, allowing you to join a wide variety of secure networks.

Customers using earlier versions of the AirPort Base Station can also upgrade their base station firmware by launching the AirPort 2.0 Admin Utility. Upgrading your base station will give you compatibility with America Online (AOL).

Note: Earlier versions of the AirPort Base Station can not be upgraded to 128-bit. 3rd party, AirPort compatible cards can not be upgraded by this utility - contact the manufacturer to see if such an upgrade is available. AOL functionality is currently limited to the U.S. only, and has been qualified with America Online v5.0.

let me update AirPort until after I updated Authoring Support (?!), which I couldn't update until I updated to OS 9.2.2. Seems odd.

to use Software Update to update AirPort 2.0.4 on two OS X machines, "no update is available" on my OS 9.1 iBook. Have they pulled the OS 9.x.x update?

I've been using an airport network between an iMac G4, an iBook, Epson printer, and Earthlink DSL in a two-story townhome. I haven't had any problems with interference. (Yes, I've got a refrigerator, microwave, cordless phone, TV and stereo remote controls, garage door opener, and two AT&T cell phones. I freely switch between OS 9 and X; my airport network has worked flawlessly!
