Amadeus II ReviewLong time user... still happy, best noise filtering - Version: 3.8.7, 9/6/2007 03:07PM PST

As a long time user, I have been and continue to be a very happy user. I will be upgrading to the Pro version for my new Intel-based Macs. This is an excellent product with a long history of positive reviews. It is unfortunate that some recent buyers were not offered a better upgrade price to the Pro version.

how my comments were deleted from this forum, probably because they were not rosy for the developer.

I will state it again. I feel screwed by this developer upgrade policy from Amadeus II to the Pro version. I purchased Amadeus II within 30 days of Pro coming out, and will wind up paying more money than if I had just purchased the Pro version had I known it was coming out.

This developer is saying I should have seen the announcements on their website about the upcoming Pro version. I say it should be ANY developers policy to allow a no charge upgrade to a product if it was purchased within a 30 day period.

Amadeus II is nothing but a subset of the Pro version, and as such, I would have certainly purchased it instead of Amadeus II.

Not perfect, but very good. Allows you to fix a lot of flaws in your audio files, as well as custom mix medleys or edit long songs to fit perfectly on your CD mix. Very similar to Sound Studio -- both are worth the cost.

Amadeus II CommentaryCheck out the new Amadeus Pro Beta - Version: 3.8.7, 10/31/2006 01:46PM PST

The new Amadeus Pro Beta can be downloaded from the developer's site. It is really great! I've been looking for such a program for quite some time and I compared this to Sound Studio 3 and I like this a lot better. Lots of features. The multi-track features are well implemented and it's Universal. It's only a public beta but check it out. I paid for it today.

Amadeus II CommentaryPretty good, but some outstanding flaws - Version: 3.8.7, 9/25/2006 06:09PM PST

This app has been pretty useful for most simple editing needs...with the exception of the speed/pitch adjustment filter. The results are dismal every time no matter what settings you use, by only adjusting speed you get a choppy file with the tempo all over the place. Audacity pitch/speed adjustment works far better and its free, with the exception that it doesn't export to aif or mp3 (you can export mp3 with LamLib, but why no option to select bitrate? The default is 128kbps...LAME.)

Remember Sound Edit? I loved that program. The closest thing to it is this. I've been using Amadeus for years. The feature I think it sorely misses is multitracks. As little as four tracks will suffice and make it a truely excellent program and a true successor to Sound Edit. Can't wait for a Universal Binary of this. Yes please!

I have found this program, and am currently using just the basic features of cropping, mainly for ringtones, and I must say, since this is the only application I have found on versiontracker.com (so far), it does what I need, and efficiently.

Amadeus II CommentaryExcellent audio editor... - Version: 3.8.5, 11/19/2005 04:10PM PST

Amadeus is supperior to SoundStudio because it can use both VST and AU fx plug-ins.

I've been using Amadeus for years.

Still waiting for the day that the author introduces multi-track recording/editing.

I still recommend Amadeus.

This app is what SoundStudio (bundled with my iBook) SHOULD be. Has a much fuller feature set, more file format options, vastly more effects, the noise reduction feature means I have scarcely needed to touch SoundSoap since installing this. Documentation is quite good. App seems very stable.
One thing I miss from Sound Studio is the ability to customize appearance- I could make my screen dark with a light waveform, which makes the machine less distracting in darkened-room live-performance situations (and probably also easier on the battery). The "stock" meters are also not as easy to read as the ones in SoundStudio, but there may be plugin ones that would be fine (still learning digital audio recording!)
Audacity is also nice, stable, has a pretty good feature set (esp. multichannel capability if you want it), but there are enough "extras" in Amadeus to make it worth shelling out cash for IMO, for anyone who does much audio recording and/or editing.

Bottom line: Audacity is nice but.. unless you are REALLY strapped for cash or a freeware fanatic, Amadeus is very much worth the money.
