GIFfun ReviewPretty Bad... - Version: 4.2, 2/19/2009 10:34PM PST

This program is bad, the GIFs it produces look terrible compared to Windows counter parts which do the same thing. In addition it does not let you specify a save directory, instead it saves to some obscure location. The usage guide is written as if it were for a command line tool. No options at all such as resizing. All in all a pretty bad application that isn't updated either. I would not recommend it to anyone.

GIFfun ReviewDoes the job! - Version: 4.2, 1/24/2009 06:49AM PST

Rob.
I confused this tool on the first attempt when I tried to drag in a list of files. When I dragged them in one by one it worked perfectly and spat out my animated GIF directly into a browser window ready to inspect. Job complete within a minute!
No bells, no whistles, no fuss, a one trick pony that just does the job it claims to do with no fuss.

All I wanted was to rotate two images at a set interval and this accomplished that very easily.

Thanks!

This program doesn't do what it shalls. It doesn't accept the transparency command - but puts the background in solid color. It doesn't react to the disposal menu (disposal methods) and makes what it wills, but not what the user needs. Thanks for such a sort of freeware! (tested under MacOS X Tiger 10.4.11)

GIFfun Review5 stars unwarranted - Version: 4.1, 1/12/2008 05:10PM PST

I simply don't understand how this program gets 5 stars. i must be in a parallel universe. Ev single time I've used it, I give up in total frustration. I sure like the idea of rapidly making an animation, but this will definitely not accomplish that.

It Is Pretty Coooool.
you take pictures and it is almost like a movie.
you set the length of time you want and then click create gif
it is nice that it gives the option to loop it or not.

Whenever I make a gif, the images get distorted. How can I make an animated gif and keep a clear image quality? Thanks!

GIFfun CommentaryLocalization bug - Version: 4.0, 3/7/2007 05:42AM PST

If you're running Mac OS X in another language than English, chances are that the frame disposal won't work properly (if you have frames using transparency, they'll always overlap).

GifFun is built around a command line program, whirlgif. The problem is that whirlgif is being fed disposal instructions it doesn't understand, because they've been translated along with the rest of the GUI. For lack of proper orders, it sticks with the default, which is "do not dispose".

But fear not, there's a workaround:

Go to Applications -> GifFun and get info for it (cmd-i). Pick the drop down menu called something like "languages" (depends on your system language). You will get a selection of languages that the program has been translated into. Uncheck all except English. Presto!

GIFfun Troubleshooting ReportWorks ok, but VERY clunky and missing GUI - Version: 4.0, 8/12/2006 11:42AM PST

What I put into it comes out ok, but it is VERY hard to use and not very friendly when you do figure out what to do.
When you ask it to open a folder it doesn't, it just sits there. You have to quit the program and start new, and then only drag and drop the folder into the work window.
The items under the GIF menu don't work:

NEW does nothing at all, I get no new work pane.
ADD IMAGE and LOAD FOLDER ask you (after a long wait) for the file/folder but then do nothing with them.
Why?

I noticed that in the list of "Things to Do" is adding a GUI. This would be much nicer. Also, the "help" files are very technical and are hard to understand for us laypeople!
Good start, but needs a lot of tweaking.

GIFfun Troubleshooting ReportSomeone please explain - Version: 4.0, 5/16/2006 08:47AM PST

presenttec
I'm on Tiger 10.4, have downloaded it and used it fine.
BUT
It won't save at all, and when pressing "make gif" it opens what I assume is the finished article in a Safari page - but the page is blank save the pathfile at the top.
Can someone please tell me what I've done wrong? No-one else seems to be having this trouble. If I try to save the gif from the icon under the "make gif" button, it saves as a gif, but then can't be opened cos it's "corrupted or not recognized".

WTF?

Thanks anyone!! I just want to make animated gif!
