ClickBook ReviewProblems fixed--great program - Version: 3.0, 7/8/2005 11:08PM PST

dsalt
Initially, it seemed that Clickbook would crash when printing from most programs, but I contacted support and they sent an upgrade (3.05) which seems to have fixed all the problems.

The price seems a little high, but, really, I use it for almost every print job (generally printing to half-page or quarter-page booklets--saves a LOT of paper, and super convenient to carry around), so I averages out to be econimical.

I have had a hard time make some of the less standard formats print correctly, in particular tri-fold brochures. I expect I'm missing a setting somewhere, but whatever it is is not clear, so Clickbook should hold your hand a little more.

On a similar note, the layout descriptions are not as useful as they could be. I think a lot more "how to" or even "why to" information could be provided to help users figure out more ways to better use the program.

Overall, I really like Clickbook and recommend it. Even if you just use it for basic booklets, it's worthwhile, and if you learn to use the many other templates, it's a bargain.

ClickBook ReviewWorking Great - Version: 3.0, 1/21/2005 05:16PM PST

After getting ClickBook for the upgrade price, I started using it without much difficulty. Overall, I like the program and plan to use it often for reducing the amount of paper that I use. Plus, I like being able to make booklets and other convenient forms for handing out.

ClickBook CommentaryUpgrade Service - Version: 3.0, 1/18/2005 04:57PM PST

I contacted Blue Squirrel to find out what was going on with the pricing and was pleased to find out that since I'm a previous owner of this product, I qualified for the upgrade price. Now if it works like it did under the previous Mac operating systems, I'm going to be very happy. More to follow.

ClickBook CommentaryUnless it's changed, I'll pass this time! - Version: 3.0, 1/17/2005 06:19PM PST

I bought the old version of Clickbook years ago (circa OS 7/8) and, although I didn't use it frequently, it couldn't be beat for those times when nothing else could meet the need. Now, with no upgrade path or demo version to see if it works well enough and is still worth the $49.95 (ouch!!), I'll have to pass on this version reluctantly and continue to look for something else that can do most of the things that the old version could do all of.

ClickBook Commentary$15.00 for a trip to the developer's website? - Version: 3.0, 1/16/2005 09:16PM PST

Kind of confused about the price. This page says $34.95, but it seems that during the rapid cyberflight transfer to the developer's website the price increases $15.00 to $49.95. Probably the cost of the flight.

Think I'd rather take the bus.

ClickBook Usage TipLost interest ... - Version: 3.0, 1/16/2005 09:03PM PST

I used ClickBook a lot under 9.
Loved it.
But when Squirrel seemed uninterested in developing it for X I looked elsewhere.
I found BookLightning and think I'll stay with that seeing there doesn't appear to any upgrade path for CB 3.0.

The price is $49.95 + shipping and handling. No trial, as far as I can see. Gee, I really liked Clickbook years ago. I would pay for it, but $50? And no demo version? Try CocoaBooklet here.

4 years ago and as such it is incompatible with os 9.1. Bluesquirrel doesn't give a damn about the mac market. Despite the mac version being old and broken, bluesquirrel prices it $30 MORE than the pc version which they are actively updating. At best, clickbook should be removed from the commercial category and repositioned as $5 "incomplete legacy shareware."
