Product Description:

Have you ever experienced the tedium and frustration of having to repeatedly type your name, e-mail address, home page url, and other words or phrases again, again and again? Or do you frequently need to quickly insert images like your signature, location plan, or company logo into documents? Do you often introduce errors when retyping standard business text? Typinator boosts your productivity and eliminates errors by automating the process of inserting frequently used text and graphics. Configuration is easy - You just define abbreviations and their replacement text or picture. Usage is even easier - Whenever you type one of these abbreviations in an arbitrary application, Typinator inserts the corresponding replacement. Drag-and-drop import from Textpander, TextExpander, and TypeIt4Me makes migration to Typinator a no-brainer. Save your time and annoyance and let Typinator type repeating texts and pictures for you. You can use Typinator to...

  • quickly type greeting phrases,
  • set up a list of standard text fragments to be used in e-mail replies,
  • insert the current date and/or time in arbitrary formats with a few keystrokes,
  • Auto-correct your most frequent typos in all applications system-wide,
  • "type" pictures, such as smilies or bullets,
  • insert Unicode symbols by typing a few special regular characters (e.g., type "->" to insert an arrow symbol),
  • define shorthands for frequently used Unix commands,
  • quickly create templates for code fragments, if you are a programmer, and more

What's new in this version:

  • Now correctly handles multi-line expansions in Coda, Mailplane, ScreenSteps and TextMate.

Typinator Reviewgreat support - Version: 3.6, 10/28/2009 07:52AM PST

I have used Typinator for several years but something went funny using it in Eudora following the last Typinator upgrade. (The trigger letters weren't deleted but were mixed up with the expansion.) It was very frustrating as there was no consistency about when Typinator would function properly or fail.

Günther Blaschek at Ergonis Software was very helpful and prompt in dealing with this. He made several suggestions until we hit upon on what needed to be done.

So, a most useful product coupled with excellent technical support.

Typinator ReviewBEST typing assistant ou there - Version: 3.6, 10/25/2009 08:21PM PST

I have tried ALL the typing assistants out there for the Mac. The one that is at the top of my list and the one I have used the past 4 years is Typinator. The program is a snap to configure ( with predefined words for spelling error corrections ) as well as making your own free form snippets to be typed wit a few key strokes. The nice feature is the s/w sits within easy reach on the Menu Bar for adding additional snippets. Developer has several predefined tables to choose from, one being a list of HTML codes.

The HTML snippets set for Typinator provides over 100 abbreviations for elements of the HTML 4.01 standard. Just type a double less-than sign (<<) followed by the name of the desired HTML element and Typinator will insert the corresponding HTML code and place the insertion point appropriately. It's that easy! The HTML snippets set is included with the software.

The FileMaker 9 functions set contains over 350 abbreviations for all FileMaker 9 functions that provide FileMaker developers with an unprecedented increase of productivity.

Import from Textpander, TextExpander, TypeIt4Me!

Abbreviations, pictures, images, word completion, the list goes on and on and on.

Great Shareware and a lot of action for your money.

Typinator ReviewI'm satisfied - Version: 3.5.1, 7/11/2009 08:58PM PST

enseignes below complains about the slowness of TypeIt4Me. I had the same experience with TextExpander (admittedly an older version from 2007). There would be up to a second of delay before the correction kicked in, which is not good when you're doing about 70wpm. Typinator is blazingly fast with its corrections. It fixes something before I even noticed I typed it wrong and reflexively reach for the backspace key. Well worth the license.
