I have been using this program sense version 1 and love it! It has many hidden features that make it an outstanding program. Some of the program features that make this an outstanding buy are in the Inventory side. You have 5 different prices on items sold, Individual price quotes on Items per customer, discounts on items and or invoices, Bill To Addresses with multiple different Ship To Addresses, ability to sell unlisted items, just to name a few. As for Ugly as some have said, I put functionality ahead of looks any day of the week. Also this program has all the accounting and billing features you could want. PS best tech support ever!

My company has been a Big Business user for many, many years now - Client/Server version with 10 users. I've gone through many versions of this program as it's been updated over the years.
Granted, the UI is not what we would all like. Beyond that...
1) The tech support is awesome!
2) I've suggested numerous feature requests which have been incorporated, making my life easier.
3) BB regularly puts out updates, fixing problems and adding features.
4) It's simple enough to run and support that I can do it.
5) For a client/server program, the price is great. There was absolutely nothing close when we first got started with it.
6) Did I say tech support was awesome? It is. Try getting a two hour (or less) turnaround tech support phone call from Quicken.

Had to download and look for myself. This is ugly! Could have been designed by an old inexperienced HyperCard user. As for the argument that it is cross platform... it is still ulgy regarless of platform. Photoshop, QuarkXPress and even Word are cross platform and they are not ugly. Cross platform may be a reason but it is hardly an acceptable excuse. The poor design makes this very difficult to look at, difficult to follow and probably use. Can't bring myself to even try...I've trashed it already.

Design is part of functionality so even though the application might do the accounting thing wonderfully the interface is sends a different message. My guess is that the vendor will loose 50% or more of its potential market from a bad first impression.

Big Business ReviewCrashes on first startup of trial - Version: 4.2.8, 4/28/2004 10:07PM PST

From the positive feedback, it seems this program is a winner. But, when I just tried the trial, it gave me an exception error and wouldn't let me test it out. From my first impression, it doesn't seem very mac-like, maybe once the program actually starts up, it becomes a more familiar looking interface, but at startup it doesn't look too friendly - looks more like a java app (even though I know it's not).

The only thing that a small business owner needs to know about this product is that it has unmatched features and The Worlds best Tech support. The tech support does not assume that we are all Tech's and just need a little help. They are there to make us look like Great IT's when most of us are still trying to understand Microsoft word. Thanks Big Business.

This is a very nice package for the money, I have used this program for many years now. The company has some of the best tech support in the industry and they listen when you give them feedback. If you are in need of small business sofware it is definitely worth a look, I switched from MYOB and never looked back!
