Mailsmith CommentaryToo little, too late - Version: 2.2.2, 9/23/2009 10:35AM PST

Obee Juan
When I first switched to OS X several years ago, I quickly latched on to Mailsmith (despite its rather exorbitant price tag) because it simply had no comparable peer on the Mac. It was easily the most powerful email client available and remained so for some time. Unfortunately, it had gone years without updates, and lack of support for Intel Macs and IMAP service eventually rendered it a has-been. That meant for folks like me who now have iPhones and are using MobileMe or other IMAP services, Mailsmith is dead to us. I've since moved on to Postbox and while I had remained hopeful that Mailsmith would win me back, this release and its continuing lack of IMAP support has dashed those hopes.

Mailsmith ReviewMailsmith 2.2.1 (292) USELESS new Addressing interface - Version: 2.2.1, 8/22/2009 07:58PM PST

Jean-Luc
New Addressing is POORLY implemented
Faulty Auto-completion
No Pop up selection of address list, it just default to the first address it founds !
No FIND button in the address window
WRONGLY implemented Address Picker
Impossible to drag and drop addresses
Impossible to multi address without creating group Which is not convenient !
Impossible to Command or Shift Click Selection (like in Apple Address Book)
DEVELLOPER is saying
There currently aren't any plans to change the way addressing is done !
WHICH IS SAD as this has been our preferred email software for years !
BUT IT IS NOW UNWORKABLE because of the addressing issue in our configuration at least, I guess it is ok for someone sending a few email to a few names, we have 450 emails addresses and with 20 groups and need often not to use the group to send to multi recipients !
It has become impossible to do with this new version, I had to go back to V 2.1.5 which does work perfectly.

They need to update the price info on the VersionTracker listing. As of Mailsmith 2.2, it's free.
