Great program for professional modeling, with excellent rendering.

Combined with PowerCADD 7.0.3 for 2D drafting there is no better product for architectural work.

No one else seems to be inclined to comment on formZ, so I have to say it is an excellant 3D modeling package which, combined with a good 2D software like PowerCADD 7, make a great combination for architects. It is a professional level program so it takes a certain amount of effort to master but it is well worth your time.

This release is Universal Binary and I don't have the hardware to test that aspect but I have been using version 6.0.4 for a while now and it is great.

Many new features with this new version, and the new architecture of the program allows for great expansion.
Profesional level modeler for architects. I use PowerCADD 6.2 for 2D work.

formZ CommentaryI like it more than Vellum, and Solidworks. - Version: 4.0.2, 10/6/2003 08:13AM PST

In I.D. circles, Alias is king. That being said, we used Form-Z a great deal at frog design to develop a variety of studies and final designs because it's easy to use and blazingly fast. The learning curve is steep, but VERY short. I learned this app about 4 years ago, and it took me about three days to reach the point where I could model anything that was in my mind. With the addition of NURBS and other advanced modeling tools, this app takes home the blue ribbon for modeling ease and speed. I use Studio Tools, and Maya for other jobs because that's a standard in I.D. work, but I will always visualize and do all my VFX work in Form-Z.

formZ Commentaryspdorsey: formZ the best solids modeller? - Version: 4.0.1, 9/28/2003 01:28PM PST

To spdorsey: Have you tried Ashlar-Vellum's products? I moved from formZ to Ashlar-Vellum Cobalt because this program really is on a different level for solids modelling of products on the Mac. I guess it all comes down to what you use the program for. formZ is so popular in architecture and general modelling because it really is good for these purposes; I'm just glad I found Cobalt so I could go up to the next level of control for product design work.

formZ ReviewForm-Z is a great app - best solid surface modeler out there. - Version: 4.0g1, 5/17/2003 09:45AM PST

form-Z is - hands down - the best modeler available when it comes to hard surface modeling. I love the interface, and I enjoy using the app.
