Regular error messages when zipping large amount of files (800mb last time). After disposing of the originals I found that a lot of the files inside the archive would open with an End of file error and contain no data.
For me the app has been disappointing. I registered but will try something else instead as I need it to be reliable.

More compatible than DropZip (Stuffit) with Windows

I was having occasional compatibility problems with sending zipped encrypted password protected zip files to Windows computers when I created the archive with Stuffit's DropZip.
When I created the encrypted archive with Zipit and emailed the file to a Windows computer, there was no longer any problem unzipping the file.
However, this utility has not had an update in a number of years and the interface is a bit dated.

Trusty app, fills a niche

I have used this for the last couple of years and found it to be reliable and stable. OK, the UI is a bit old, but no matter: I can quickly to look inside a ZIP archive and extract a few files without having to unzip the whole lot, so this little app fills a niche very well. It works fine over large archives with tens of thousands of files. In between this and OS X's ZIP UI, who needs Stuffit?

Worth a try

Can open archives that Stuffit Expander happily removes from your hard drive. If Expander does not work try this. Archaic interface though.
Good zip utility, handles mac files in zips better than Aladdins DropZip

I use ZipIt to move file archives between PCs and Macs and love the file name conversion, stripping illegal characters and converting 8 bit characters between the platforms. Check the "Convert all filenames to PC-compatible format" in Miscellaneous prefs.
fails the taste test

Downloaded to Panther (10.3.7). Launched. Dragged a 6MB folder to the window and used File>Save As to save the Zip. Application crashed. The developer is welcome to the crash log if he/she wants it.
Bug-ridden Abandonware

This application is very buggy under OS X 10.3.5 - many menu items randomly become unavailable. I've mailed support about this more than once over the time I have used the application and have received no response.
Since the application has not been updated in several years and support emails are ignored, I can only assume the application has been abandonned. What a waste of money :(.

- UI a bit dated.
I used 2.2.0 forever before updating to this version. I found the old version quite reliable, and this one too... so far!
Regularly zip a 68MB (which deflates to 4.8MB) file to send to a WIN user of a cross platform program (MYOB). You can guess that this is very important data that, while password protected hasn't been compressed previously. So far Zipit has been flawless.
Oh yeah. The author is one of few still supporting OS 9. Kudos!
I'm downgrading my rating only on the basis of UI. Otherwise the pluses far outweigh the minuses:
+ Reliability
+ Compatibility
+ Ease of Use
+ Classic/legacy system support.
