Product Description:

WASTE is a text editing library for Mac OS programmers: a piece of software that allows developers of Macintosh applications to add text display and editing features to their own programs.

What's new in this version:

WASTE 3.0 was completely rewritten from scratch to be fully Unicode-savvy. It is now based on ATSUI and Quartz (Core Graphics). However, its API is mostly compatible with WASTE 2.1, so it should be relatively painless for WASTE-using applications to adopt version 3.0.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3 or later

WASTE CommentaryRich text in browsers? - Version: 3.0d6, 12/23/2005 11:32AM PST

zorgaliscious
would this allow for web browsers to have Rich Text editing in online email like Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail?

Thats one thing I hate that Windows browsers have over MacOS X... they can have rich text directly in the browsers :(

WASTE CommentaryWhen you select… - Version: 3.0d6, 8/2/2002 01:07PM PST

right then down in a Mac text view it will select up to, but not including the CR/LF. This is just one of the selection problems. As for drag+drop, the delay before you get a dragged item is insane. Either support D&D or don't, the delay makes no sense and doesn't allow one to use the delay for another use like a popup menu. Due to these problems and others I find it an utter pain to use apps like Project Builder, Mail, TextEdit, etc.

about NSTextView's text selection and drag/drop? I've never noticed any problems.
