Advanced Web Filtering - For complete control over who can see what and when they can see it, what they can do and when they can do it, InterGate Policy Manager filters can be applied on a per user, per group or even a per machine basis, and can be effective at specific times of day and/or days of the week

  • Protocol Filters

It can combine virtually any of these in a custom report that can be viewed at any time for up-to-the-minute network monitoring

Secure Firewall, Core Router and More - InterGate Policy Manager incorporates a secure level three firewall, using stateful packet inspection, to prevent unauthorized access into the local network from the Internet, in addition to the industrial strength, high performance TCP/IP Router, DHCP Server, DNS Server, Remote Access Server, Fallback and Connection Teaming capabilities

InterGate Policy Manager ReviewiChat fixed - Version: 8.6.2, 6/11/2004 02:32PM PST

Looks like they fixed the issue with iChat. Works great. You do not have to set up ports or open ports like on other hardware routers. Nice update!

InterGate Policy Manager ReviewSuper Software Router/Firewall - Version: 8.5.5, 2/10/2004 06:56PM PST

This version fixes a number of nagging bugs and allowed me to move form the OS9 version to OSX permanently. They fixed a problem with wireless access points not getting IP addresses and the latest version fixes a DHCP assignment issue. The OSX version is much more stable than the OS9 version - I've never had a InterGate crash in OSX. InterGate uses the SurfControl database to identify objectionable sites and has categories that you can select for content filtering. Unlike hardware routers, you can configure InterGate to allow some users to bypass the content filter (Mom & Dad), while others are banned from undesirable sites. You can also manually bypass certain sites if they are on the banned list. No hardware router does this. Support is excellent! My only issue is that Personal File Sharing seems gets turned off upon re-boot and the server does not reliably show up in the Network. However, disks always mount if you put them in your login items and you can always connect to the server by using it's IP address.

InterGate Policy Manager CommentarySoftrouters are still VERY valuable - Version: 8.5.4, 1/22/2004 06:30PM PST

If you want a way to control content from a central location using a dynamic database that parents can bypass at will, this is the only option I have found that is easy to manage. Client machine filters are easy to bypass and need to be updated individually. This is an excellent central solution.
