If all one needs is a simple, free, drag and drop tool to convert text files, either singularly, or in batches, to PDF format, today I discovered a program here on VT called Text To PDF Converter 1.11 by Bee Documents. It has a few rough edges, and thus room for improvement; but for my simple need to batch convert folders full of BBEdit text files to PDF, it seems to meet the need. As I said, it is free. On the other hand, I had to pay like $20.00 for PrintToPDF to do the same thing under OS 9 previously. This program, txt2pdf, might attract more Mac users if it had a regular Mac OSX GUI, instead of the PERL interface...and a feature set worth the $39.00. I don't know that it does, since I haven't used it, and won't, for that price.

I was looking over their site, and they state that they just make small tools using perl. One advantage is that the tools can be distributed to every platform that supports perl. So, although this product is largely redundant on the mac platform, it's target is linux and windows users. It was just too easy for them to release this as a mac app also, so they did. Mac users should have very little need for this, but don't be too hard on the developers.
