Product Description:

TCalc is a Macintosh application that calculates SMPTE time codes.
  • Calculates in:
    • 30 Frames/Second (NTSC)
    • 29.97 Frames/Second (Drop-Frame)
    • 25 Frames/Second (PAL)
  • Allows multiple Calculators to be in use concurrently
  • Each Calculator is independent of the others, allowing for individual calculation modes
  • Keypad/Function Key mapping makes Timecode data entry simple and fast
  • Most menu functions and buttons have keyboard equivalents for efficient operations
  • Absolute Frame Count calculations can always be performed or viewed from each Calculator window
  • Keypad/Function key mapping is easily accessible from within the application
  • Calculations are performed as soon as you've entered anything in the Calculator window
  • Addition and subtraction operations are provided
  • Any calculated result can be copied to the Clipboard
  • Out Point support is available
  • Free demo available

What's new in this version:

Bugs fixed:
  • The Paste Edit menu item would not activate (Mac OS X) even when the Clipboard contained a proper numeric value.
  • The key combination control-option-apple-anything> would cause TCalc to exit even when it was in the background (Mac OS X).
  • Typing any number after highlighting a complete timecode string would cause an error message to appear stating that the Time Code field selections must contain numbers only. This error message has been replaced with a more meaningful message.

TCalc CommentaryWazzup...works just fine! - Version: 2.1, 5/10/2005 09:38AM PST

Sorry, frisbyj, this thing works fine. Ya type in a number (TC in the top left box, or frame number in the bottom left...), and ya get a corresponding timecode or frame number. The right hand box is for entering an offset (which I guess is necessary in some aspects of multimedia programming...I for one use them all the time when editing non-synchronus multicamera DV). You can "subtract 1" from the result if your non-linear editor does or doesn't count the out frame...and instantly switch from PAL to NTSC. what's not to like? who cares if it's ugly...I want to know how I plug it into an Appleworks or Excel spreadsheet so I can convert my entire dataset.

TCalc ReviewUseless - Version: 2.1, 9/20/2004 08:09AM PST

Unfortunately, this calculator is basically worthless. It's input fields are incredibly un-user-friendly, it doesn't past timecodes from Final Cut Pro, and it's nearly impossible to get it to be functional.
