I hope that you all realize that WebObjects is now free for development! This is tremendous and is ready to take the web application development world by storm!
Of course deployment is not free, but server deployment it is looking very attractive as you can simply buy your Mac OS X Server 10 client license package and then install this on other server platforms since the license is not bound to server platform anymore with the 5.3 release! Interesting times indeed!

I would never have hoped that Apple releases a WO patch for 10.4 without forcing everyone to buy a new license - amazing! Thanks, guys.

that Apple will release Web Objects to open source if Sun and IBM do an open source version of Java.
There are just too many other alternatives to WebObjects, many of them free. I realize it cost $50,000 a few years ago and $700 is more than reasonable, but it is still out of reach for the small guys.

works fine. the 5.1 serial allows installing but not launching builds. :/ 700$ is a lot for a 5.1 owner

announcement, there is no upgrade to 5.2. Since I just bought WebObjects 5.1 a couple of weeks ago, it feels like I burned $700. I wonder -- the WebObjects deployment license on the $6,500 Xserve I bought at the same time, will it require a $700 "upgrade", too? How is it possible to be a happy Apple customer?

the web services stuff at WWDC. It looks really nicely done. Basically a way to map your directAction methods and parameters to SOAP requests. Generates all the icky stuff for you. Numerous bugs I hope they've fixed. If they have, I'll definitely come back and give it 5.
