Symantec Norton Utilities ReviewDoes not work in OS X 10.4 + - Version: 8.0.2, 2/14/2006 05:12PM PST

I have been a long-time user of Norton Utilities (since version 3) and have considered it a valuable part of my computer support toolkit. Sadly, is clear that Symantec is no longer planning any updates or support for the tools since there hasn't been an update or bug fix in 2 years.

None of the tools that come with Disk Doctor work in Tiger except for the disk editing tools. These can be handy if you are trying to recover data that was erased from a still-functioning hard drive. But this function is hardly worth the cost.

I only give the software a slightly better than poor rating because it still works well under older versions of the OS from 8.5 to about 10.3.5.

Norton put me more in trouble than it revolved any problem to me.
When I tried to reach their support, it NEVER replied.
Then they're a lying bastards about security on OS-X.
What this keynote of theirs ordered by Mr Allen and Mr Gates.
For whom do those guys roll ?

Goodbye, Norton Utilities for the Mac. I know that everyone else hated you, but I loved you. I was a former PC snob who had used NU since version 1.0 under MS-DOS, when the sight of seeing Peter Norton's arms folded on the box cover could still bring a tear to my eye. When I became a Mac fanatic, I was glad to find an old friend on this side of the fence. It was painful having to watch you endure the slings and arrows of hate from those who felt you just weren't up to par in your Mac incarnation, but I want you to know there was at least one person out here who still adored you. Unfortunately, I'm about to upgrade to OS X Tiger any day now, and that means I have to let you go. I'll really miss you. Ah, parting is such sweet sorrow. It's been a long, strange trip, and maybe someday we'll meet again in that big Apple graveyard in the sky. So long, old friend.

Symantec is one of the WORST companys ever, maybe for PC's they're OK but on mac's they're unbelievably bad.

THANK YOU.... for not making this product ever again.

P.S: I'm gonna give you a "You Suck" as well

Symantec Norton Utilities ReviewNorton Utilities: SpeedDisk - Version: 8.0.2, 2/22/2005 11:02PM PST

Robert Roberts
SpeedDisk Help says:
If you have problems with a disk or disk partition, use Disk Utility to test and repair it.
SpeedDisk check disk says: " SpeedDisk can not analyze the [disk] because it is damaged (23042)"
Disk Utility (First Aid) says: "Volume appears to be ok"

Hopelessly circular.
