duckhue1Thanks for keeping up with it. You guys really did a great job bringing about a solid, non-bogging anti-virus app for the mac.
How about bringing back Norton utilities. I miss that with it's awesome defrag. I bought iDefrag, but I don't trust it.
OMG

LiveUpdate servers updated - Version: Sep 25, 9/26/2008 03:41PM PST
michael_romo
It's Friday, September 26th--we had some users complaining that they were having problems updating. This issue has been fixed as of 3:40pm.
Here's my original reply to a post about this issue:
Mike Romo here again. So, the LiveUpdate servers have been checked and things should be working again. Here's the deal--when we post our signature files, they are sent to Akamai servers all around the world.
Sometimes replication of the definitions introduces errors in content. LiveUpdate is unable to do anything about it except notify, and because of the digital signing technology within our products we are able to recognize altered content, and LiveUpdate can report the error. The content has to be reposted on the servers from a trusted site. Once the reposted content propagates to users, they should be able to LiveUpdate their definitions without errors.
We have reset the definitions a clean install and everything looks like its running smoothly. The servers that replicate our content experienced large spikes in downloads today which possibly caused them not to get updated with our current definitions. We’re re-pushing all of the data out now to correct the issue. Should be fixed by the time I've done typing this message (3:37PM PST).
Anyway, I know this is an aggravation and I apologize for the irritation this might have caused you. We strive to offer the best service possible and sometimes we have technical issues.
But thanks for your patience, let me know if you have any questions.
have a good weekend

What the... - Version: Sep 8, 9/9/2008 12:13PM PST

baddawg65http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/download/index.jsp
But the AntiVirus for Mac still shows September 5, 2008:
http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=nmc
Also LiveUpdate doesn't show any updates since September 5, 2008.
I noticed Symantec has recently release bad definitions and now incorrect date information on their website. Symantec has and is loosing touch with their original core values and it is scaring me with the release of bad virus definitions and incorrect website information.

Gennx30It costs money, is ablsolutely useless-thought Symantec will create 'Terrorist' Alert scare every so often to drum up patriotism-er...SALES
This really weighs down your computer and causes problems.
I got rid of mine 10 years ago-and not a molocule of a virus trojan bug etc
or problems of any sort.

I still use it! - Version: Jun 26, 6/26/2008 08:25PM PST

lenwhyte2) I still use it to scan stuff to purge it of PC viruses, just to be sure I'm a good corporate citizen and don't pass any nasties on to others. In that sense, it's fairly useful for a Mac user.
