There's the freeware WordService from the folks at Devon Technologies (the makers of DevonThink and FreeAgent):

Is SmartWrap really worth $20?

Like everybody else, I get unwrapped messages, and SmartWrap has worked great. Then, with Leopard, my MacBook Pro couldn't get it to install the Mail.app pllugin. The developer, Sanford Selznick, was incredibly responsive and diligent in tracking down and fixing the glitch. So now it works great once again! I can't recommend it enough - and please don't forget to register it! Sanford deserves the support of all of us!!!

SmartWrap ReviewGOTTA HAVE IT! - Version: 2.5.3, 9/25/2005 01:32PM PST

If you use email, this is a MUST have. I loathe emails that come to me with numerous lines on the left and massive size type with short line lengths. I get rid of all the problems and never forward anything. I try to send neat and clear text. This does it all.
