Product Description:

AP Grapher is a freeware program for Mac OS X which searches for nearby wireless (WiFi, Airport) access points and graphs the signal strength as a function of time for the base station you are currently connected to. Although the program has a stumbler like mode, its not a true a stumbler in the classic sense since it only finds visible networks.

AP Grapher is intended to help you find the best access point to connect to and optimally position your base station and or computer to achieve the best possible signal strength.

What's new in this version:

Newly designed larger icon, Added optional menu extra to display the comm quality as a percentage, Added option to speak comm quality as it changes, Scanner now remembers which column to sort by and by default sorts by signal, Minor internal updates, Dock icon graph now draws translucently on top of the dock icon and is based on the time elapsed rather than the number of samples elapsed.

It looks good but it keeps crashing, First with my 17 G4 1.5 GB then with a new 13 Mac Book 2.2 with 3 GB of RAM. Tried several times it won't stay on for more than 3 or 4 minutes on any of the 2 computers.

This application was a life saver for me when I had to troubleshoot placement of my PowerBook G4 to pick up a very tenuous WiFi signal. Saw one crash since updating to a MBP, but overall it still works great.

The developer has "retired" according to his blog, though, so don't expect updates.

This application launches & looks nice, but it crashes shortly after launching with MacOS X 10.5.5 on a new MBP 2.4GHz Unibody enclosure. Hopefully this can be fixed.
