This function can done directly using Apple's Property List Editor ( included free with developer tools ). It is easy, relatively risk free ( assuming you make a backup of the file first ). Just go to your home folder/library/preferences/ and open the file named 'com.apple.loginitems' ( possibly make a Finder - option drag - desktop copy first ). Click the triangles next to ‘SessionItems‘ and ‘CustomListItems‘ to see their subitems. Click the triangles next to ‘Item 1‘, ‘Item 2‘, etc. until you find the entry that you want to move. Item 1 gets loaded first, item 2 loaded second etc. Move the mouse pointer to the left of the Item’s triangle, then drag the entry higher or lower in the list. Drop the entry INBETWEEN two other ‘Item‘ entries and then save with Command-S.

Note: LoginControl does provide additional features such as lists of startup items which might make the product worth the shareware fee for some users.

haven't tried the product, anyway here the app is tagged as FREEWARE, whereas the developer site says "30 day free trial"... that's deceptive advertising -__-'
