Product Description:

Panorama Enterprise Server is the first totally RAM based general purpose database server for Mac OS X. This server allows lightning fast RAM based databases to be shared by multiple users with full record locking. These users may be on a local network or spread across the Internet (or even without a network at all, see below). The Panorama Enterprise Server can also be used to create ultra-fast web database applications.

Unlike traditional client/server systems that sequester all of the data on a central server, the Panorama Enterprise system uses a "mesh" architecture to distribute RAM based copies of the shared data across the network. This mesh technology dramatically cuts delays associated with common database tasks by spreading the load across the network.

The Enterprise system works much like a formation of fighter jets teamed with an aerial tanker. Instead of hoarding all of the data on the central server, the Enterprise system distributes complete, redundant copies of the shared data across the network mesh. Operations that don't involve other clients (searching, sorting, analysis, reports, etc.) are performed independently at solid state speed in each client's local RAM, there are no disk delays anywhere in the system. The server is only involved for coordinating data flow across the mesh, managing record locking and updating modified data on clients as necessary.

One unique feature of the system is that users can disconnect from the network and continue working even when completely offline and detached -- for example when on an airplane or away from network connections. Database changes made while offline are synchronized automatically when returning to the network. No special setup or programming is required -- this synchronization logic is built into the server itself. This feature is especially useful for companies with employees working in the field.

Other key features of Panorama Enterprise Server include WYSIWYG design tools for building web forms, remote configuration, management and debugging tools, support for Google Analytics, and automatic backup of live databases.

Panorama Enterprise Server ReviewDatabase Development for the Rest of Us - Version: 5.5.1, 8/19/2008 04:21AM PST

M Terry
Panorama has long been one of the most versatile and powerful development tools to be found - anywhere, on any platform... suitable for virtually any text manipulation project, and also a great way to keep track of your recipes. ;) Now, with the Enterprise edition, nearly anyone can share their projects and processes - or recipes - with the world.

Behind the scenes, what's been truly remarkable is the development process, itself. For over 20 years, the author of the original program has personally guided its evolution and growth - and still does. The result is a tool that offers seamless integration of the features that real-life users have found they really needed... and that process continues today. That's why this Enterprise edition - in beta for nearly 3 years - is not just the simple, rock-solid sharing mechanism perhaps originally envisioned, but also a full-blown tool that allows "everyman" to organize, create and share information over the internet, with anyone, anywhere in the world. It's the best reason I know of to own a Mac.

Panorama Enterprise Server ReviewEnterprise is a winner! - Version: 5.5.1, 7/30/2008 03:45PM PST

As a Panorama Enterprise beta tester, I'm glad that others can finally try it, too. Not only is it fast and powerful, it's easy to setup and maintain. Most of my users access my databases via their browsers. Response is so quick that they have no clue that my server is a MacMini on a DSL line.

I travel a lot and can't be near my server. Enterprise emails me when there's a problem. I can access Enterprise status pages and run any procedure from my iPhone. From my hotel room, I can update then upload a procedure or web form in seconds. For major database changes, I can take the database off-line, change and repost with a few button clicks.

As with any powerful program, there's a learning curve. ProVue has an overwhelming amount of documentation and examples. I recommend first watching the movie tutorials to get the big picture. Then, put a simple database on-line a build on it.

Panorama Enterprise Server ReviewAffordable flexible Database system for the rest of us - Version: 5.5.1, 7/30/2008 03:45PM PST

We run our entire business on Panorama & the Panorama Enterprise Server - with over 60 simultaneous users, unlimited web-based clients, and thousands of transactions a day. This is the best small business database system available that I've found. It takes a little time to understand all the stuff it does, but I'm just a weekend "programmer" (not really a programmer at all), and I've managed to build solutions better than most off-the-shelf products could provide. Our company uses Panorama for multi-user databases in accounting, scheduling, billing, project management, web, inventory, contacts, and lots more.
