CrossOver Games ReviewWorks very well for supported games. - Version: 8.1.3, 11/25/2009 03:31PM PST

Although this product is advertised as having the ability to run many PC games without needing the Windows operating system, it does have a limited set of games that run well without any major bugs.

For those games that are supported, I must say that the experience if very good. I used CrossOver Games to run Guild Wars for the last 2 years and have been very pleased with the results. With each new update the program has become even better. I would definitely recommend this for someone looking to run some Windows PC games on their Mac without the necessity of purchasing Windows.

... who says it doesn't work. You must check compatibility center. many Steam games works even better than on Windows. HL1,2 and mods works like a dream (Counter-Strike, Day Of Defeat, Natural Selection...9.

CrossOver Games CommentaryIs this a joke? - Version: 8.1.2, 11/21/2009 09:48PM PST

Why would they have World of Warcraft listed as a supported game when there is a Mac client, and the Mac client is so much better than the Win client?
Who in their right mind would play the Win version on a Mac?
Something sounds wrong with this.
Then games we need, like Halo2 aren't listed.

CrossOver Games CommentaryTotally false advertising. - Version: 8.1.2, 11/20/2009 02:55PM PST

"Now gamers can play the games they want, on whatever platform they want!"
This is incredibly untrue. It's really false advertising. This app can only play something like a dozen of games (and with bugs). It's absolutly not "the games they want".

Being a modest gamer I bought this to run on my Mac Pro. So far I have been unable to load and play a single PC game without issues. Not least of which was speed when finally getting a game to install and load.

So, I bought a 1TB Samsung HDD for £46.00 and a copy of Vista Ultimate 64Bit (Full legit version) for £10.00 off eBay and relegated CrossOver to the Trash.

CrossOver Games CommentaryFar from playing what I want... - Version: 7.2.0, 2/28/2009 03:07PM PST

This is really misleading and they should update their description. There are about 10 games that are guaranteed to work, the rest of the list, about 150 games, are primarily Honorable Mention, meaning that it has been reported to work but not supported. There are a handful of silver and no Gold that I could see. I think I will stick to VMWare fusion or Boot Camp, which runs games at full speed. I mean really you can get a copy of XP OEM for under $99, and that will enable you to play games at full speed with full capabilities. Just my opinion, but this app is pointless...

I've used this for a while and for the programs that it supports it is excellent. PeeCee games are always better without Windozes.

I don't think so. None of the many games I've wanted to play are listed. Perhaps the author should specify that a certain type of game may be played, but not at all the games some of want to play.

I must say that this is one of the best products in its class. The developers are responsive and they're updates are complete. Excellent support for new versions of clients, updates to WINE etc.. If you can or won't run a full copy of Windows on your computer to play games or use Windows only applications then this is your answer.

Apparently, this application's developer, Codeweavers, made some kind of bet and lost, so they're giving this and Crossover Pro away for free today only. Go to their website.
