Product Description:

Dejumble offers a fast, simple way to create and organize tasks. It sits nicely in the menu bar for easy access, so tasks are presented in an efficient way without interrupting the users workflow. Tasks can have due dates and notes as well. Dejumble syncs fluidly with iCal, and offers keyword tagging with categorization. Users may easily search by title or keyword tags with the advanced search bar. Whether users need to quickly create a to-do list, or organize thousands of tasks for many projects, Dejumble can help. Version 1.0.2 offers many improvements and bug fixes. Feature highlights include: * Advanced Sorting Options * Simplified Task Management * iCal and Mail Task Synchronization * Pull-Off Task View

What's new in this version:

  • IMPORTANT: You should backup your dejumble library before running this beta build. The dejumble data library is the file "dejumble_runtime.xml" located in ~/Library/Application Support/Dejumble. Also if you use, or plan to use iCal Sync, you should backup your calendars. In iCal, select "File -> Back up iCal...". While this beta build of Dejumble has been stringently tested to insure protection and integrity of its data library, it is still a beta version.
  • Minimized tasks The new minimized task view increases the amount of tasks one can display in the dejumble window. To edit a task either double click on it or select it and hit Enter. To end editing select another task or hit Esc.
  • Links in notes This view provide powerful notes and details editing for the task. Among the new features are automatic drag and drop of links and automatic link detection. You can drag a link from ical onto the notes section in the inline edit view and have it automatically past it and generate the appropriate link
  • Advanced URL feild. The url field (what was previously available) provides more advanced options then the simple links in the Notes section. Clicking on the go button beside the url will do one of two things. If the link is a webpage, it will automatically visit the link in the default web browser. If the link is a email url, then it will automatically start an email with the notes from the taks.
  • Email task This option availible via ->click on task->click on button at top right of inline task inspector->select email task. The title of the task will be used as the email's title, and the note will be used as the contents of the email. If the task has an email address for its URL attribute then this will be who the composed task will be defualted to send to. After clicking the email task, mail.app will open the composed email in a new window allowing you to send or edit it.

SoftwareChef (Bit of Paradise Products)
I'm always interested in an app that claims to help me organize my "things to do." So I took a look at this one and found it to be well done and actually easy to use. "Easy to use" is important because many times I wind up not putting down somewhere something I think of that I need to do later... This app sits in the menu bar always available. It's there no matter what "spaces" screen I'm on. It has a very "polished" look despite being at v1.0.2. And it looks nice :)

It's doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it does include the basics. You can add tags to a task, assign tasks to groups, set a due date and time, assign a priority (1, 2, or 3 stars), only show tasks in a certain group, easily search for tasks by title or tag, etc. And it's pretty easy to use and looks nice!

AND, it's on sale right now! The web site says it's one day only - $10. But they also say the price will be going up to $19 (as of 12:01 am April 24, 08). So at $10 and as good as it is right now (and the potential that it will get even better), it was literally a "no brainer" for me (which is a good thing since my brain has been gone for awhile now ;-)

Two caveats: One, it's Leopard-only. Since Leopard adds a lot of nice features for developers, that might be a good thing. Two, I've only used it for an hour so I'm no expert. There might be bugs I just haven't stumbled over yet...
