Not the best for the Mac...

In fact, some of the Java-based platforms from some brokers, e.g. E-Trade, Interactive Brokers or thinkorswim are way more intuitive and friendly than this supposedly mac-only application.
The developers seem to be stuck in a System 8.0 time-warp, the icons are ugly, bitmapped, and the windows and dialog controls are all pre-OS X. I spoke to them on the phone and the guy kept insisting that the software worked fine on Oh-Ess-Ex. Hmmm.
As for the features and actual functionality, there is nothing new here - most of what you want to do etc. can be found in other charting packages, even those available on the web.
The technical analysis tools are so-so - nothing new here. You can get most of these indicators and more from the web-based charting sites, and as for real-time quotes, don't bother - since if you are trading actively, your brokerage software should already have it.
Charting and TA technology has moved beyond what Personal Hotline is offering - many packages now offer some form of programming language to allow you to screen stocks, create custom indicators or run backtests. None of these is possible in Hotline.
The expert-system isn't all that great either. You are limited to one stock or portfolio list. If you want to do a stock screen, you have to enter the stocks into one big list and get the expert-system (or whatever they call it) to go through all these stocks. No screening capability for the wider market. If you want to search for all stocks with PEs < 20 for instance, you're out of luck.
With the Intel Macs running Parallels or Boot Camp, Mac users can now use the best of breed stock/charting programs out there like Metastock, Tradestation, Ensign and so on. If you are serious about trading, you won't want to bother with this piece of software.

Couldn't live without it

It's been over 10 years since I fell in love with this software. I couldn't imagine making a trade without it. Over the years it has helped me make money in both up and down markets. During that time I have upgraded my Mac multiple times... Quadra, PowerMac 7600, the original iMac, and now a Powerbook. This software has been bulletproof though every iteration of MacOS including OS X. I highly recommend it.
Personal Hotline from Trendsetter Software has made me hundreds of thousands of dollars, most importantly -consistently- growing my account over many years.
