Hear ReviewHear - fun but maybe just a toy - Version: 1.0.3, 9/1/2008 10:27AM PST

I've been using Hear for about a month. I like it. I like the way you can give your music the spaciousness and 3D imagery that you've always imagined your system might sound like. I already have my office set up with 5.1 surround. I am minus the .1 since I don't have a subwoofer installed. But "Hear" totally makes up for the lack of the big speakerbox on the floor.

I've found that sometimes "Hear" gets stuck on a setting and you can't get rid of it. I'll just wait it out and it fades after a while. I thought that might be a fix in 1.03 over 1.02 but I don't notice any dif between the new version and its predecessor. If you're like me and listen to a lot of different styles of music, you'll find that after playing around and finding the perfect setting for you favorite Industrial cuts just doesn't match up when you switch over to a Jazz Vocalist.

Sometimes it's just a relief to turn "Hear" off and let the artist and producer of the music you're listening to show you what they have using your un-enhanced sound system.

I still like it though. I wish they'd fix that bug so when you change a setting it doesn't get stuck.

As far as the price goes, I think they'd do a lot better at $19.95 than $49.95. For 50 bucks it should be flawless. No bugs and better documentation. Even then I'd say $29.95. (Although it did save me the cost of a subwoofer)

Hear CommentaryCan't recommend it. - Version: 1.0.3, 8/18/2008 03:32PM PST

When it works it's great. Sounds terrific with a little tweaking. I have several issues about which I have notified the developer. So far, no response... not even an acknowledgment email. Until the bugs are worked out, and the developer shows some concern for registered users, I really don't recommend this product.

For the general listener, Hear's "Effects-Hp-ambience-S" is quite good! Enjoy!
