Product Description:

Imagine an email program that was smart enough to observe and learn how you handle your email. Like offering to reply to certain types of email messages using a response you've previously sent. Or giving you the option to auto-file a message you've read based on how you've filed similar messages in the past. What if you could defer a message from your inbox for a few days or weeks, so that it magically reappears later when you're ready to deal with it? What if this program had an amazing junk mail filter that would leave your inbox devoid of spam? And what if this program was as familiar and easy to use as Apple Mail?

After three years in development, we've finally created that program. Outspring Mail is the newest email client for Macintosh. We've taken the best features of existing email programs and coupled them with our patent-pending intelligent functions to create a program that will make your email chores far easier. And since this is a current-generation application, it supports major email protocols including POP, IMAP, SMTP and SSL. It also runs natively on the latest Macintosh computers and OS X Leopard. Demo notes: Launching the program and pressing the DEMO button (instead of entering a serial number) will place the program in demo mode, which is: • All functions and features of the program will operate for 10 days. • A "This message was sent with Outspring Mail..." tag will be added to all outgoing messages sent with the program. • After the 10-day demo period has expired, the program will still work, but the user will not be able to send out mail or receive new mail until reactivated with a serial number provided at purchase.

What's new in this version:

  • Calendar event invites are now shown as an attachment and can be double-clicked which will insert that event into iCal.
  • Added key-command for sending messages (shift-command-D)
  • Added a confirmation dialog if user attempts to delete an account.
  • Imported Apple Mail messages now preserve their read status.
  • And many more minor improvements...
  • Fixed problem that would cause a crash on startup when default fonts were missing.
  • Fixed problem that would prevent user from being able to open a new compose window when no message was selected
  • Fixed crashing problem that would occur while importing QuickMail account information.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause some QuickMail messages not to be properly imported.
  • Sent messages are now marked as read.

    Existing bugs we're working on:
  • Delay sending mail on .Mac accounts. A time-out occurs at the server due to SSL.
  • Program will crash if you select a large amount of messages (over 30,000).

Operating System Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC

Outspring Mail ReviewMost worthless mail client ever used - Version: 1.1.1, 8/5/2009 01:08PM PST

This mail client is so bad I actually had version tracker reset my password so I could log in an review it. It is absolutly worthless as an imap client. I attempted to move an imap folder local and a local folder up to imap (something I do all the time to make sure my mail is available on every machine I use, but not go over my mail quota).

Luckily I backed up before using this product because every time I tried to move a folder either way the folder moved but every message inside disappeared forever. There doesn't seem to be an accurate progress bar. It says it's done, but the messages are gone never to re appear. On a beefy brand new laptop, the outspring eats most of the CPU. As an added bonus if you choose this product and hate it there are 0 export options to move to another client.

Outspring Mail ReviewInteresting, but you lose feature/function over other e-mail solutions - Version: 1.0.5, 5/18/2008 06:03PM PST

Comments about Outspring Mail

1) Importing works well.
a) Importing does not import passwords for accounts
b) GMail accounts do not get the right login information
ie. instead of user.name@gmail.com it just uses user.name

2) Signatures are NOT imported. They are created automatically with user name and email address.

3) No rules engine, although it might be intended that Auto-Filing supercede a rules engine, I would still prefer being able to set specific actions.

4) Importing Apple Mail into new Inboxes received an error -9990. They could not be displayed.

5) Importing mail loses attributes such as colored labels, flags, etc.

6) Demo version lasts 16 days. Every time you start up you have to enter your name and click Demo button.

7) Updating Messages (Getting Mail) started to run without stopping. Had to kill the process.

8) Will not recognize LOCALHOST as a valid server address if you are using an email proxy or spam filter such as Purify.

Usability lags behind Apple Mail. Has potential, but definitely no competition for Apple Mail, Entourage or Thunderbird. Pricey.

Unlike the previous poster, I would not hesitate to pay good money for a quality, high-powered email client. But Outspring is not it.

So this version seems more stable. They added signatures. But it's still missing WAY too many features to be considered a power application, and that's the only way to compete in this market. No filters/rules. No smart mailboxes. And, most amazing to me: no menu item to get email! There are menu items for replying, forwarding, deleting, delaying, but not for checking my email? I have to click and icon? Am I missing something here?
