Of course it's cross-platform - that's the whole point of writing it in Java. For all that, it's a pretty good little app. In fact, it's better than most color-pickers I've tried. Though the author should correct his blurb to mention the Dock instead of the Task Bar. He is selling it on the Mac side of Version Tracker in this instance. If he knew how much such misstatements put off Mac users, many of whom are offended by any reference to that "other" platform, he'd do it PDQ. ;-)

It works just fine on my Mac Pro running OS X 10.5.5. If it doesn't work on your machine there may be something wrong with Java on your system. The only way to know for sure would be to run another Java application and see how it works. You could also download and (re)install the latest Java update from Apple.
As a color picker, Colorspace is as good or better than the many alternatives out there. Whether it suits anyone's particular needs would depend on individual workflow requirements.

Cmd-Q quit did not work. Force-Quit did not work. Clicked on an outside window and everything froze, could not reach other applications by clicking. Sorry, I can't justify paying $20,

Nice app, but you can't use copy (cmd-C) to copy a color string.
