Product Description:

NoteShare Server allows you to share notebooks without having to open them. It maintains a server list, a list of spaces and notebooks (with their associated space, sharing flags and optional sharing password) and gives you the ability to manage the spaces and books on the server list remotely, using NoteShare Server Administrator. The notebooks shared by NoteShare Server can be viewed by any copy of NoteShare or NoteShare Express. Remote users cannot tell whether a book is being shared by NoteShare Server or ordinary NoteShare.

NoteShare Server Administrator provides the ability to manage the server list from the same machine that is running NoteShare Server or from another remote machine. It is used to share and unshare books, to create new books on the server and upload books to the server to be shared. NoteShare Server Administrator is supplied in two forms: as a Macintosh application (NoteShare Server Administrator.app) or a Java program (NoteShareAdministrator.jar). The Java version can be run directly on the desktop by double clicking it, or it can be run as an applet in your favorite web browser connected to your local machine or to some other machine where it is installed.

What's new in this version:

  • Web notebooks now show a To Do check box instead of a leaf control icon if the entry is a leaf and has the To Do category.
  • Changes to handling of NoteShare Express editor licensing. The Express editor limit is now set independently of the total NoteShare Express connection limit. Editor limit now checked against the number of NoteShare Express viewers holding a pen, each time a pen is requested.
  • Fixed drag/drop issue placing images in the title area.
  • Bringing up the category menu on a non-selected entry now selects the entry.
  • Fixed issue causing tabs to sometimes be truncated in web notebooks.
  • Fixed issue with incorrect entry reordering in remote notebooks, when multiple entries are dragged down on a page.
  • Fixed compression buffer overrun problem.
  • Added "iPod" to web notebook iPhone-format recognition in the web notebook javascript code.
  • Fixed some possible memory leaks.
  • Fixed some indexing problems for very large index files.
  • Fixed race condition when opening remote notebook URLs while launching NoteShare.
  • Fixed issue with opening covered notebooks on some systems.
  • Do not close an open shared book in NoteShare Server when there are no remote viewers, just because the app is hidden.
  • Add localizations for "Viewers" sharing menu item so that non-english versions of NoteShare and NoteShare Server can properly deliver a book when a new client/viewer opens it.
  • Fixed problems with sharing dialog button text and connections.
  • Fixed issue in handling remote category changes.
  • Fixed bugs affecting web notebook export for windowless notebooks (i.e., in NoteShare Server).
  • Fixed possible cause of reported crash in UPnP gateway detection and configuration.
  • Fixed blocking alert panel issue that could cause NoteShare Server to block and get out of sync.
  • Fixed possible buffer overflow problem when encrypting large attachments for transmission.
  • Fixed bug with categories coming in from NoteShare Express not being localized.
  • Added PPT to the list of file types that are not compressed in transit (since they are already compressed).
  • Fixed issue where a viewer setting a section page read-only would interact with the selection on the server's section page.
  • Disable Sharing->pageReadOnly command when book is covered.

NoteShare Server ReviewEn Francais: Un logiciel merveilleux et une excellente assistance - Version: 1.7.3, 9/18/2008 01:43AM PST

J'ai essayé l'édition Serveur du logiciel NoteShare. Voulant partager des NoteBooks (Calepins) sur une base de Serveur permanente (bonjour et internet) et voulant publier en même temps quelques notebooks sur le Web, j'ai pris la décision d'essayer ce logiciel. (je collabore avec des membres d'une chorale en leurs communiquant des données importantes; corrige des traductions avec quelques collègues; rédige mes propres écrits etc.)
Maintenant, tout ce que je sais dire c'est: Super!

Bien sûr je devais m'accoutumer au produit. J'ai démarré en créant quelques calepins, puis je les remplissais avec des données de iCal, le Carnet d'adresses, insèrant aussi quelques entrées Web. Il y a des choix dans les menus qui vous rendent la vie bien facile en permettant l'insertion de tableurs, un carnet à dessin etc. Le menu AppleScript vous offre l'accès à iTunes, le Carnet d'adresses, l'iPod, iCal, Entourage etc.

Je pense n'avoir effleuré que la surface de ce qu'est offert par ce logiciel.

Pendant mon exploration je me suis accroché à quelques situations plus complexes du type réseau que j'ai trouvé difficiles à comprendre.
Je ne suis pas très technique, donc ...

En utilisant le système d'aide et assistance par courriel je suis entré en contact avec Scott, le créateur du logiciel.
L'assistance fût du plus haut niveau. Il m'accompagna à travers chaque étape pour arriver là où je le souhaitais.
Il resta présent tout au long du chemin, jusqu'à ce que tout fonctionne. Le gourou sur le plan réseau dans l'équipe de développement s'appelle Noah!
J'étais et suis très satisfait de cet assistance. Professionnelle, forte et efficace!

Je recommande ce logiciel et cette entreprise!

Allez-y, tentez votre chance! Vous allez certainement être agréablement surpris!

(je ne suis en aucun cas affilié avec ce produit ni l'entreprise qui l'a crée, je ne suis qu'un simple fan!)

I tried out the Server edition of the NoteShare soft. Wanting to share notebooks on a permanent server base (bonjour and internet) while being able to publish some notebooks on the web made me take the plunge. (Collaborating and communicating important data to members of a choir, translation work with colleagues, own writing stuff etc.)
Now all I can say is: Superb software!

I had to get acquainted with this product. Starting by creating some notebooks, then filling them up with elements of iCal, Addressbook, implementing some web entries. There are menu items making your life a lot easier by letting you insert tables a sketchpad etc. The AppleScript menu gives access to iTunes, AddressBook, iPod, iCal, Entourage etc.

I think I probably have just scratched the surface of what is offered by this software.

While exploring I stumbled upon some more complex network situations I found difficult to understand.
I'm not a techie so ...
Using the email support system I got in contact with Scott, the creator of all this.
Support is on the highest level. He walked me through all the steps to get to what I wanted.
He stayed until it worked. The network guru in the support development team is Noah!
I was and am very pleased with this support. Professional and strong and efficient!

Recommended software and company!
