It looks like a video is downloading but I can't find it anywhere. It's not in the destination folder or anywhere else. Downloaded video doesn't show up anywhere.

Get Tube Usage TipDownload link incorrect - Version: 4.01, 11/18/2009 05:53PM PST

The link to downloading the Get Tube is not correct. After having tried a link to the developer (about), I could navigate to the correct one. The URL is this: http://web.mac.com/simonvrel/en/download/download.html When it opens, there is a list of all the software available from this developer.

Trying Get tube, it does not download anything.

I click on the search result, but then I get the message, that JavaScript wouldn't be enabled, or flash player is not supported.

I tryed to download it, but it still doesn't work...

What can I do to make it work?

Thanks

Get Tube CommentaryOr, try this... - Version: 4.0, 7/1/2009 09:31AM PST

• Using Safari, open the page with the YouTube video you want to snatch.
• While the video is loading, open the Activity window (command-shift-A).
• The video will be the largest file downloading.
• Click on it, and copy it (command-c).
• Open the Downloads window (command-shift-L).
• Paste the item you just copied (command-V)

This will download the video to your specified download location as "video.flv". After it downloads, you may wish to rename it.

This file is playable by Quicktime - right click (or option-click), and select "Open With..." If Quicktime Player isn't listed, select "Other...", and navigate to Quicktime Player in your Applications folder. To avoid having to do this in the future, check the "Always open with" box.

You're done, with no additional software needing to be installed!

Get Tube CommentaryAnother useful alternative: Seatubes - Version: 3.0.2, 8/13/2008 01:40PM PST

I like Seatubes so much, I paid the shareware fee!

Actually, Seatubes is kind of clunky. But despite knowing I could have done a better job with the GUI myself, I keep coming back to it as a useful tool, better than any of the alternatives.

Its main benefit is that you can use it to collect URLs to YouTube videos and save the collection into a file. There is no need to worry about downloading anything until you feel like it, like when its time for a break from the computer. Just bring up the collection and hit the download button and walk away. Everything loads into your designated folder.

As ever, if you are playing/collecting YouTube videos uploaded after June 2007 and you want the best quality available, add this to the tail end of the URL for the video page:

&fmt=18

What you get is the 'HD' version of both the audio and the video. Often the improvement in quality is dramatic.

Works great, but really wish the dope developers also still included 10.3.x in the OS list for older Macs and those of us not willing to keep giving Greedy Apple more money and for putting more polluting carbon in Stevie Gods $80M Private Jet. (I like my old Macs, but hate Stevie the greedy limousine liberal).

Get Tube Usage TipOther than the obvious, perfect. - Version: 2.2, 2/14/2008 12:00AM PST

I have never understood why programmers always make the default setting be the wrong one, but they always do. Maybe they just want to show off their cool dialog boxes. Anyway, since Get Tube is a program for downloading from "YouTube - The best video sharing site on the net!", I suggest that the very first thing every user do is to open the preferences and change the file type from mp3 (audio) to mp4 (video). Once you do that, this program is everything you want it to be.

Get Tube CommentaryHalf way there - Version: 2.2, 2/9/2008 12:00AM PST

Great idea and looks great, I love the UI, but it's only half way there. It only downloads the audio in both FireFox 2.0.012 and Safari.

Getting the audio and video would bring it up to speed, then having it auto convert to a Quicktime Mov would be cool. I would for sure use it then. Maybe even an option to rename the movie and a default saving folder.

I have the "DownloadHelper" Plugin for FireFox but there's really nothing for Safari.

There are a few other applications for downloading YouTube videos and other sites but they are too complicated. I like a one click thing, not coping and pasting a URL.
