ExactScan ReviewDocument Management comes to OS X - Version: 2.7.5, 10/10/2009 09:35AM PST

I used Acrobat Pro, and Readiris Cooperate for scanning. None of them worked the way I wanted. Readiris 11 was always buggy and I never liked that bloated Acrobat.

ExactScan beats them hands down, for a mere 100€ you get all you want from an OCR scanning solution, there is no limit of scanned pages like that ridiculous 50 page limit of Readiris Pro, which costs exactly the same. If you need help, you call them and you get one of the programers on line who will give you immediate competent support. No call center help line, who knows less than you do, like Apples first level support. Any wishes, if it makes sense to them, they will look into it.

I got an AV3200SU Duplex scanner with it, all together for 900€. Only the update for Readiris Coop, which you need if you want to scan more than 50 pages is 400€. Their driver for the Avision scanner is a direct driver, meaning there is no fumbling around with twain interfaces. However there is a twain driver as well, so you can also scan out your Apps, like Image Capture. Check there website if you scanner is supported. They have drivers for Fuijitsu, Xerox, and other scanners you would love to use under OS X.

I was really happy to get a professional scanner now running with my mac. Bye, bye HP.
Together with the speedy Avision scanner I can use document management like I always wanted on my mac, which was not possible before due to poor scanner drivers and OCR software under OS X.

And yes, the user interface, though I have to admit it's quite effective, could use some cosmetic.

I am using ExactScan quite a while with my scanners and I am very happy. Well, tried a lot but nothing was as good as this software.

ExactScan Troubleshooting ReportBad upgrade - Version: 2.7, 7/3/2009 01:08AM PST

Do not install this version (2.7). Some serious bugs. Has rendered the application - and thus my scanner - unusable. 2.6 was stable and very good.
