Product Description:

About us is a collection of plug-ins for Apples Address Book. The About us plug-ins augment the standard functions provided by Address Book for date and address fields. For a date, About us will compute the persons age (for a birthday) and the duration since an event (for anniversaries). It will also offer to open iCal to the date of the next birthday or anniversary. For an address, it will offer to open the default browser to the weather report for the zip code in the address.

The download includes an installer, documentation, and source. Installation instructions that do not require the installer are included. The About us plug-ins are distributed under the new BSD license.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC

Additional Requirements:

  • 10.4 PPC or Intel
  • 10.5 Intel (PPC likely, but still untested)

I've confirmed the plug-ins work with Leopard on Intel; still no reports on Leopard on PPC.

These plug-ins are written in Applescript, so they are fairly robust to OS version changes. While I've only tested them under OS X 10.4 (Tiger), I expect that they work as expected under 10.5 (Leopard). They may well work under 10.3 (Panther), also. I'd appreciate reports on whether or not they work under versions of the OS other than Tiger.
