MediaLink ReviewUnsupported product with free alternative - Version: 1.72, 9/30/2009 03:02PM PST

I've been a paid user of MediaLink for years. I've waited patiently for updates and bug fixes. I own several other NullRiver products and I really want to like them.

The latest update 2.0A1 broke completely on my machine. I wasn't able to revert to the a working version.

I requested support and received no response. There isn't even any basic troubleshooting steps on their site.

I found the free PS3 Media Server. It just works and does transcoding too!

... to fix the errors on high-speed links. They blamed everything - the network, Sony breaking PS3 software et cetera. And finally - surprise! - the issue turned out to really IN the MediaLink...

Oh, well - a little too late: I'm guessing most people have switched to other solutions by now...

MediaLink ReviewCould be fantastic, but it isn't!!! - Version: 1.72, 3/7/2009 04:14PM PST

MediaLink 1.72 promised a lot and I looked forward to what was offered.

Running the program from my MacBook Air (X 10.5) and through a 300mps router to my PS3 I expected great things.

Upon installing the software it was really up to my intuition to figure how it functions. I found the program in 'systems preferences' at the bottom. Upon clicking the 'Start' button the MediaLink tab quickly appeared in my PS3 menus. Very impressive, I could browse through my Mac files easily... That's where it stops!!!

Loading photos takes more than a moment and videos... bugger!!! The streaming video that was promised didn't deliver. Video would load and play, but it was broken and slow. I tried copying a 730mb .avi file to my PS3... what a waste of bloody time!

If they cure these streaming problems then I will be very happy to lay my cash down, but until then I'll be waiting!!! Chop, chop!
