TimeMachineEditor CommentaryFaceless -- How To? - Version: 2.5, 11/5/2009 06:36PM PST

Jason!
I don't have any problem with this running a Daemon. But I don't want that showing up in the Dock or when I pressed CMD-Tab to switch apps. In other words, please tell us how to make the Daemon "faceless." There has to be a way. NSUIElement? Please tell us how to do it.

This program screwed up my backups.. You can do the same thing by editing the PLIST. Now my time machine only makes 2 backups per day

TimeMachineEditor ReviewDaemon - no go! - Version: 2.5, 10/3/2009 02:00PM PST

I used to love this program because it did not install a background daemon to interfere with the system. There have always been other programs with daemons - something I never even looked at having the perfect solution with TimeMachineEditor. Now, for Snow Leopard, the developer changed over to the dark side. Maybe there is no other possibility - I don't care. I will not install a background daemon to take care of my backups. I'd rather live with hourly backups than using this version. That was it - good bye.

TimeMachineEditor ReviewConfusing - Version: 2.5, 10/3/2009 01:49PM PST

Though the product does what is stated, it is confusing that the system TimeMachine function is turned off. The TimeMachine option to "Show Time Machine status in the menu bar" (in the System preference) indicates that TimeMachine is unavailable and also inaccurately shows the last backup.

I find this aspect to make this misleading and inaccurate.

TimeMachineEditor ReviewTME 2.5 works perfectly with Snow Leopard - Version: 2.5, 10/3/2009 11:25AM PST

This new version works perfectly with Snow Leopard. I have beta tested it with no problems. There are no random or unexpected backups, and there are no backups after wake from sleep. This new version has its own launcher daemon, leaving TM off when not backing up. Finally, TM works the way you want it to work.

TimeMachineEditor ReviewHas no effect in Snow Leopard - Version: 2.2, 8/29/2009 09:39AM PST

Although this app does the same thing in Snow Leopard as in previous OS versions - modifies the plist file com.apple.backupd-auto.plist - time machine seems no longer to consult this plist, and therefore changes made in TimeMachineEditor have no effect on time machine in Snow Leopard. At least that has been my experience - please correct me if I am wrong.

This works just fine for those of us who don't have the knowledge or the desire to mess around with plists, etc.

SUKD. All the issues claimed here and more. There is a PLIST file that you can edit to do the same thing only without some third party extra.
you can edit the file maually or with terminal
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.backupd-auto StartInterval -int 1800

TimeMachineEditor Commentaryskippings of back up - Version: 2.0.3, 2/6/2009 03:00AM PST

no idea why but sometimes it takes days before TME starts a TM back up.
I am using an iMac with 10.5.6 and have instructed TME to do a back up every 12 hours.

Anyone else experiencing this?
