Product Description:

Task management has never been this easy.

Organize your tasks in an elegant and intuitive way. Things combines powerful features with simplicity through the use of tags and its intelligent filter bar. A Leopard style source list allows for quick and easy focusing. Together with a beautiful user interface, Things aims at the seemingly impossible: making task management both easy and fun.

Ian Beck's screencast is a great introduction. Learn from our users why Things is different either on i use this or Newsvine.

  • The big picture. A Leopard style source list lets you easily focus without ever switching view modes or wrapping your head around filter criteria.
  • A magical tag bar automatically appears when needed and adapts to the currently displayed list. It lets you drill down even the longest list of To-Dos. Hierarchical tags? We got you covered!
  • Teamwork. Things offers convenient collaboration features. Easily delegate tasks to members of your team. (This is work in progress.)
  • No columns! Whether it's multiple tags, dates or notes, To-Do items display their information on an as needed basis. No more space wasted by empty or irrelevant column cells!
  • Out of your head, out of your way. A quick entry HUD lets you enter any idea the moment it hits you. Never let the thought of an unfinished business distract you again.
  • Yours forever. We won't lock you in. Things will use an open XML file format to store your data. (Not yet activated.)

What's new in this version:

  • When the contents of an Area of Responsibility is displayed in the main view, the "New Project" menu command now inserts the new project into the this Area instead of the general projects list.
  • You can now use Command-F to move keyboard focus to the search field. The only exception is when editing the note section of a to-do. In that case the standard find panel is shown.
  • Improved reliability of "https" URL detection.
  • The "Item>Move To" menu command didn't reflect the new ordering in the sidebar. This is fixed now.
  • Schedule Dialog, regression. When re-scheduling a to-do it was no longer possible to move the date to the past. This is fixed.
  • Schedule Dialog. The title of the action popup button now also updates when clicking into the date picker.
  • The state of toolbar buttons now update correctly when the selection changes due to applying an operation that removes an item from the current list.
  • iCal Sync. Syncing priorities now also works with the German localization.
  • Minor improvements to the German localization.
  • iPhone sync. Increased robustness and reliability of device discovery under unusual network conditions.
  • iPhone sync. Added "Sync now" menu command and button (Preferences).
  • iPhone sync. Added facility to debug sync/network problems. Clicking on the "Sync Now" button in Preferences while holding down the option/alt key copies a sync report to the clipboard.
  • iPhone sync. The progress window now has a cancel button and remembers its previous position.
  • iPhone sync. Fixed a Things touch crash related to syncing unmodified duplicated to-dos.
  • iPhone sync. Canceling and re-opening the set-up assistant sometimes led to devices no longer being discovered. This is fixed.
  • iPhone sync. Canceling the set-up assistant but still entering the code on the iPhone no longer crashes Things.
  • iPhone sync. When initiating sync from the mobile device, Things no longer moves all of its windows to the front. Sync process is still shown, but hidden immediately after sync has finished.

Things ReviewAnd 1.2.5 won't update either... - Version: 1.2.4, 10/8/2009 04:59AM PST

The title says it all, a new version posted within hours of 1.2.4 doesn't upgrade either and hangs on download.

Things CommentaryI really don't understand ... - Version: 1.2.4, 10/8/2009 12:36AM PST

why Things can't/won't institute some sort of cloud backup/sync. I have owned the app for well over a year now and also own the iphone app, but as it can't sync without you being in the same wi-fi zone, have had to sideline it and use ToodleDo.
Don't get me wrong, I love the app otherwise, and expect that with Bartok on board, the app will only get better. I simply think that having an amazing app with no way of syncing wherever you are is like having a Ferarri with a 2 gallon gas tank. Please fix this guys and you will have all the users you want.
