Product Description:

MalFOO is a small Applescript that is designed to run the Unix Vacuum command on Apple Mail's Envelope Index database file.

If you set the script as an alarm in iCal, or don't click any buttons, it will wait for 300 seconds before automatically running.

When it has completed, it displays the before and after sizes of the Envelope Index file.

Try the following.

Place the script/application in:
you users home folder/Library/Scripts

(mine would be users/Danny/Library/Scripts)

Add an alarm to iCal, that repeats every month, then set the alarm and to open the MailFOO application.

I will be posting a "how too" on my website in the near future, with full screen shots and a better description.
