Screenium ReviewGREAT Application!!! - Version: 1.2.2, 8/10/2009 03:46PM PST

iggieman
I don't usually rate software, but felt compelled to rate this one as it is great and did exactly what it says it will do.

And it does it very well. Exceptional even! At $29 it is great value for what it does.

Straight forward interface, instant access to all functions. Records system audio as well as microphone inputs (some other programs don't do this well), simple interface with fixed or scalable capture areas.

Screen capture quality is great as well. Frame rate isn't a problem, even running on a 3 year old MBP with a core duo chip. I'd love to see what it does with a newer laptop.

Highly recommend this as I tried several of the other shareware, freeware and commercial programs and this one is by far the best in my humble opinion.

I saw a note on one web site that said this application had been updated. It was impetus enough to download it and give it a spin. I have been using SnapzPro X for eons, and Screenium would need to really impress if I was going to spend $29 for capabilities I already had in other software. Well, Screenium did just that. Clean, polished, intuitive, Mac-quality software, it is loaded with features and packaged well. SnapzPro X remains useful for still captures, but I am happy to acquire Screenium for my video capture needs. If Screenium were to add still capture, it would be that only tool I'd need.

Screenium Troubleshooting ReportHow to export Screenium-created movies with audio - Version: 1.0.2, 10/14/2008 03:20PM PST

nils_heeren_dotmac
(from Synium Software)

Hi all,

this is a courtesy post regarding the recent misleading comments about audio not being included on export of Screenium-created movie files:

All Screenium movies which have been recorded with active audio devices ("Audio/Video" pane) do indeed have audio content in their "raw" movie files in Screenium's "Library".

However, when exporting those movies, the second section labeled "Sound", in the Export dialogue, must be activated (the box before for "Sound" must be checkmarked). This option is deactivated per default in the QuickTime dialogue we're currently using.

Please e-mail

screenium@synium.de

for similar issues and to obtain comprehensive product support.

Please also refer to the User Guide included with every download package and accessible via the "Help" menu within Screenium.

Thanks a lot for your interest and for using Screenium!

Best wishes -- Nils

Screenium ReviewUseless with Potential - Version: 1.0.1, 10/13/2008 01:41PM PST

This app has a lot of potential - could easily be a 5 Star - but since there is NO SOUND in the output movies, and there is NO CONTACT e-mail for the developer, I must at this time rate it almost useless. I can not use it until there is sound - and unable to contact developer. So 2 Star for now and 5 star when this is fixed.

Screenium ReviewNice, works quite well on iMac G5 and MacPro - Version: 1.0, 10/8/2008 06:12AM PST

justamacuser
The "follow mouse pointer" function and the scaled-down recording is a very useful option for recording tutorial videos for the web. That's basically what I've bought it for. The option to overlay live audio/video from an iSight (or compatible webcam) into a corner adds a nice "human" touch to the result.

Had some minor suggestions, and received a quick confirmation from the programmers.

Happy customer here. There is room for improvements (e.g. seamless support for multiple screens - currently, one needs to pick the designated source screen from a pop-up menu), but on the machines I tried, it worked as advertised and proved helpful.

Screenium ReviewPolished but video is jerky - Version: 1.0, 10/5/2008 05:14PM PST

conejo
needed an app to do basic screencasts so I can teach my employees how to do different basic things on a Mac. Didn’t need anything fancy, my choices boiled down to ishowu or Screenium. I demoed both.

I like Screenium’s interface a LOT more. Very polished and attractive. But it has a frame rate problem. I did a lot of cursor movement including slow smooth circles and then moving back and forth across the screen and with ishowu, the cursor moved smoothly. With Screenium, it was very jerky.

So at this point, looks like I'll be buying a license for ishowu.
