Duplicate Files Searcher Usage TipOK, WTF??? - Version: 2.1, 4/2/2009 10:25AM PST

OK, so I click "Download Now" and I get a file named "uYPLmP7t.zip.part" and I double-click it and I get an error message saying: "There is no default application specified to open the document." So, I go to the developer's website and there's NO help there, and no way to contact them, of course, so, WTF do I do now? Aside from tossing this P.O.S. in the Trash and moving on, that is. (FWIW, I'm on a Mac running OS 10.4.11)

Having tried nearly all the commercial duplicate killers, I wasn't expecting much from this freeware offering. I was therefore very surprised when it performed much better than the commercial apps I'd tried. Very fast for one thing, even when doing a byte by byte comparison. No issues with Java on my iMac.

The only slightly untoward thing I noticed was that files really are deleted (not sent to the Trash). However, you can choose to move them to another folder if you prefer.

This is much too good to be free.

I have a half-ton of duplicate files in my client files - including graphics used in multiple places. If there are, say, 18 copies of one logo, I'd like to be able to mark 2 or 3 for keeping AND replace the others with ALIASES to one of the kept copies.

Happy holidays
