Product Description:

StarPlayr2 is a next generation Sirius Internet Radio player for Leopard. A Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 port of StarPlayr2 will be available in June. StarPlayr2 has many great features including the ability to purchase CD Albums from Amazon. When an album shows up, click on the Amazon button in the Metal bar above the album art and wallah! Other cool features include Album art, Song Lyrics, Pause, Instant Replay, Mini Guide Presets, Realtime MP3 recordings, iTunes Importing, iPhone and iPod playlist syncing, smooth volume controls, and fast channel tuning averaging four seconds. We recently brought back iCal StarCast Recordings. Using the easy to use bundled AppleScripts and a few simple setups in iCal, you'll be well on your way to saving your own segments to iTunes and you an even auto update your iPod, iPhone or iPod touch.

What's new in this version:

  • Fixed ghost icon bug. This operation loads the tracker info in the foreground again. All other tracking stuff is on a 10 second timer, or a 30 second timer if StarPlayr is not the front application.
  • Remembering Volume controls should work better. Dealing with Mplayer not remembering the volume is a fun task to deal with. The sacrifice is load times will take 1 extra second. StarPlayr buffers the stream, checks if playback is ready. Then it sends the new volume to Mplayer, there is a delay for it to process the request. We have to let it process then start the playback.
  • Commentary: If Flip4Mac WMV ever gets the Proxy Firewall fixed, we may be switching to Flip4Mac WMV in the future. It is easier to control the volume of a QT Stream. It can be changed during the buffer. If anyone has a patch for Mplayer to remember the volume from one stream to the next that would be most helpful. I really do not know why the open source Mplayer does not remember the volume. It's be around for a long time.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC

Additional Requirements:

  • StarPlayr2 is free to all Mac owners running Leopard. A subscription or a 3-day free trial account to Sirius Satellite or Sirius Internet Radio is required. Trial sign-ups are available on StarPlayr2's login from Sirius.

StarPlayr CommentaryTracker Still Doesn't Work Right - Version: 2.0.9, 5/20/2008 03:39AM PST

Song title, artist, etc still stays stuck on the song that comes up when you first open the program. Ex: The Drifters "On Broadway" and album cover hasn't changed in half an hour. It worked on a version several updates ago! Minor annoyance I guess because everything else seems to work fine.
