Fluid Reviewawesome! - Version: 0.9.6, 6/8/2009 02:03AM PST

Works great with most web apps. Doesn't work with iGoogle though.

Missing an easy way to copy the url. Currently the only way seems to be via tinyurl.
Sometimes has issues with opening links (don't always go into the main browser but happen to open a tab in the standalone app), no big deal though.

This application is a key piece in my daily workflow. I could certainly stand for some more web development features to be integrated or even if he would consider adding some cross functionality with CSSEdit and/or Flux.

One thing that I really need to see soon though is full featured 1Passwd support. That would be outstanding.

Also, some icon customization in the Preferences that would properly embed a custom icon so that it sticks post update would be great as well.

Fluid Commentaryexperiencing crashes with 0.8.3 - Version: 0.8.3, 3/4/2008 08:46AM PST

On the java-based site that I just set up using Fluid 0.8.3, I'm getting frequent crashes (which mean loss of data). Running 10.5.2, in case that makes a difference...

Fluid CommentaryRooting for two more features..., but great freeware - Version: 0.7, 1/23/2008 12:00AM PST

I'm delighted this app exists; I went searching the web to see whether precisely such a thing exists. I appreciate that it's free (maybe not many people would pay for such a thing). And it's hard to look a gift app in the mouth. Still...

Two features would make it much more convenient for me to use (in classroom context, switching back and forth between BlackBoard and other websites):

* saving of cookies between sessions (it always asks for all passwords)
* scrolling with the mouse (std. Apple scroll button mouse, so it should work)

... it would be nice if it could remember passwords.

But it does work and seems to work well.

OMG, such a good idea. A while ago a program called "Gcal.app" appeared on VT which was basically just an SSB for calendar.google.com. They included the source code as well. I really wanted to play with it and figure out how to do my own apps (eg: our web-based corporate calendar), because really only a few things need to change (URL, some labelling, etc), but I couldn't figure it out. Eventually gave up.

And yet, here is the same idea again, but in an actually usable form. A little disappointed that it's 10.5-specific, as I'd love to deploy SSB apps to my users, none of whom are on 10.5 yet (or shouldn't be; if they are I'll be annoyed - it's supposed to be an SOE environment...). At the moment we deploy a few fake apps (AppleScripts with icons on them - they just simply launch browsers to particular addresses, intended to add to the Dock for easy access to certain web-based corporate apps). But with Fluid now, I'm hoping to migrate them over to SSBs. Still fake apps, but less obviously fake, and with the benefit of crash protection. =)

I am curious what the license will be over time. Whether it will remain free once it hits 1.0 or whether it will change. I'm not adverse to giving money for this great idea (I know it's inspired by Prism, but Fluid is here today), just wondering for the future, particularly in terms of whether corporate use might attract different license conditions than personal use?

In any case, I've been tinkering with Fluid for a while and it's got a lot of potential, very exciting tool to play with and come up with new ways to use it. Two thumbs up.

Is there a version for older machines? Not all of us have been able to update to Intel machines and OSX 10.5.

Fluid CommentaryGood Work - Version: 0.4, 12/29/2007 08:12AM PST

Excellent work on this. Very much needed and this could also serve as a generalized Mailplane killer, particularly with some things you're doing now. Hopefully you'll add a drawer with some sort of bookmarking ability. For example, I'd like to keep all types of the same webapp (for different sites or even diff email accounts) in one Fluid instance and call the app "Google Analytics" so that it will be for all sites and quickly navigate to them by a click rather than drilling around.
