Not a replacement for Maelstrom

I had high hopes that this would be a decent copy of the old OS9 Maelstrom, but unfortunately it is not a faithful update and has many changes that make gameplay a whole lot less fun. I wish Ambrosia would release an OSX version.

Maelstrom Still the #1 Astroids Game (Sorry, nice effort) - Version: 1.0.2, 12/7/2007 06:03PM PST

Most people probably don't know that the legendary (at least in 90s Mac world) Maelstrom was ported to OS X a few years back (after being a favorite and one of the first successful shareware games ever for the Mac--from Ambrosia, which is still around). That game at least took the graphics to a new level (though the graphics have actually been done better than that game, it is still wonderful in its simplicity). I'm not sure how it works in 10.5, but it still "rocked" (and it literally rocks with its soundtrack) in 10.4.
However, it's biggest drawback is its small window, which this game at least does much better with. Remember, it came during the Mac Classic era. However, if you're an astroids fan, check this game out, but also check out the Maelstrom X, for some nostalgia if nothing else.

$14 for an asteroids game that: "has been tested successfully on a 1.0-GHz Mac with a G4 processor, but a G5 or Intel processor and 1 GB RAM are recommended."?? A G5 and 1 GB of RAM for asteroids?? Will this thing make me breakfast too?
