Scribbles ReviewScribbles is a Creative Pro's binary love affair! - Version: 1.2.1, 6/23/2008 02:03PM PST

I've been a professional artist for over 15 years and not until I tried Scribbles have I ever felt "in love" with an application. I love it for what it doesn't do just as much as for what it does. This is such a beautiful tool for light and fast capturing of ideas. Dear developers of Scribbles, please keep up the great work and strive hard not to bloat your wonderful little application with worthless feature creep (à la Adobe, Corel, etc). That said, the clever user interface controls lead me to wish there was a "Pro" version in the wings, something like Alias/Autodesk's Sketchbook Pro should be but definitely isn't.

Whether a visual artist, a developer, writer, inventor, engineer, teacher, or any other type of professional thinker, Scribbles is a great way to quickly capture your ideas, just pick up your wacom pen and start scribbling without the application getting in your way!

I wanted a simple program to doodle my own graphics for mind maps (http://www.imindmap.com/). I found this. Because of this program I bought a graphics tablet and got 3 books on drawing because it was so easy to use it inspired me to actually learn how to draw for real. Wow! Why couldn't stuff like this exist when I was a kid and had tons of free time... This developer deserves awards for innovative simplicity.

Scribbles ReviewEven a seven year old child can use it successfully - Version: 1.2, 3/19/2008 11:32AM PST

Originally, when I first saw Scribbles, I thought it would be a great drawing program for my grand-daughter aged 7. She loves it. No lessons required; she picked up the mouse and away she went.

I do a lot of print publishing for a small organisation. We often need small illustrations that can be done quickly. Scribbles is quickly available for a jazzy graphic.

Well worth the shareware price.

Congratulations!

This is such a cool Lil piece of software! I've worked as an illustrator for the last 8 years using Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop etc - Currently having trouble with PS not being able to create a smooth line no matter what I adjust - even using a ruler! Anyways, that's a long story still in progress - I was browsing through these little drawing apps and despite a few jaggy pixelation issues when I first draw a brushstroke (fixed by zooming in and out a little), this is a very cool lil app - keep up the great work!

I my eyes this points at the start of a working environment with the emphasis on creating, not wading through lists and menus. Great for quick idea work and just messing about - I will enjoy testing this more!

Hats off to the developer for creating a simple, elegant and clean paint program. It's missing a lot of features (paint bucket, lines, etc). But for a basic out-of-the-box paint program, it's easy and fun.

In my graphics and web design and have used Photoshop,
Canvas, Flash, and Illustrator, among others. I downloaded Scribbles because of the
sample drawings and reviews on their site http://www.atebits.com/
I have been looking for a simplest drawing/paint program for jotting down
down quick sketches and product designs. After only a few
minutes playing with it, this is the BEST I have ever seen.
TRY IT!

— Convenience- Like Stickies for drawing. Use it for quick design
sketches, and save it as 'ptn' or screen grab (apple/shift/4) for png.
— Overall- Outstanding for quick sketches, offers more than that if ya want
— Interface- Superbly hyper-intuitive
— Results- Surprising and then some
— Capabilities- From simplest to much more than that.
Fantastic for kids too, I'm sure. Teachers, try it.
— Wishlist-
* Ability to import small images as templates
* Text ability
* Save as other than proprietary format (eg: jpg? svg? gif?)
But it still GREAT as IS, and its simplicity might be the best course.
— Price- $19.95 but it DESERVES payment, I'm gonna keep trying it, then pay.

So far, I have not inspected it for bugs, but ran into none yet.
