this app is brilliant and sophisticated to my mind! A true Apple-style in the way of "less is more". very functional, ideal to refine the functional design. very cogently.

Docker ReviewHiding the menubar disables spotlight! - Version: 1.5, 7/16/2008 01:55AM PST

Installed this specifically for the menubar hiding feature.

It works, but there's an unfortunate sacrifice...

You need to manually change the setting for each application you want to have the menubar hidden for AND once it is hidden spotlight is disabled... both from keyboard shortcut access and even mouse triggered access.

I'm frustrated that there is no mention of this known issue anywhere on the site or in the documentation. Would have saved me the hour I spent, first manually changing the setting for every single regularly used app in my folder, and then immediately having to undo it all one by one after I realized losing spotlight was the price I payed for a bit of clear screen.

The developer knows about the issue and suggested leaving the menubar visible in the finder, and clicking to the finder when spotlight is needed.

Perhaps a workable solution for an occasional spotlight user, but for someone that uses it constantly as the OS X keyboard accessible launcher, that absolutely cripples functionality and workflow.

So if you depend heavily on Spotlight, count this feature out if you're wanting to use Docker. (I customize the Dock using other means, so the hidden menubar was my only interest)

On the other hand, if you don't use Spotlight, or use an alternative searching/launching system (quicksilver etc.) then this handly little app may work well for you.

Excellent app. I'm sure Apple will steal all this functionality and incorporate into a future OSX release. This is way better (and smaller) than Dock Changer. Chuffed!

A really excellent app! I have been frustrated by the new leopard dock- the blue translucent orbs indicating an open program were particularly dysfunctional! Thanks for the improvement on the OS!

This is exactly what I was looking for, and a nice alternative to Unsanity's dock hack. Apple's default blue-on-blue "glowing" orb for open applications is really inadequate. With Docker I'm able to choose something that can actually be seen (yellow's pretty good). It's also nice to be able to change the dock's basic color, etc. Very nice job — I'll definitely donate on this one.

Docker ReviewFantastic app - Version: 1.3.1, 2/15/2008 12:00AM PST

This app is incredibly useful, and works superbly. One suggestion to the developer- maybe make the backgrounds of the different screens (styles and colors, settings and stacks, etc) the same color. The green and blue backgrounds are sort of ugly. Also, is it really necessary to make the user input their username and password with every change? Perhaps you could have an "unlock" action similar to what is found in the system prefs, so the usrname and pass would only have to be entered once.

Aside from those minor qualms, I highly recommend this application.

Thanks allot for creating this great app. It's cool to be able to customize the dock with either the 2D or 3D look, and give us the choice to colour it as well.

The addition of the spring folders to the dock really helps as well.

Thanks for making this free too!
