Pixelmator CommentaryComparison to Photoshop Elements? - Version: 1.3.1, 12/4/2008 07:35PM PST

I see some comments posted that Pixelmator does most of what Photoshop does at a fraction of the price. But wouldn't a better comparison be Pixelmator vs. Photoshop Elements 6? That's selling on Amazon for $72. Can anyone shed some insight on Pixelmator vs Photoshop Elements?

Pixelmator ReviewBest image editor for most people - Version: 1.2.3, 9/7/2008 10:13PM PST

I am a non-professional but ambitious photographer and I can strongly recommend Pixelmator for almost all users out there. The feature set is more complete than I need, all features are relatively easy to learn because of great training material available and at 59$ it beats everything in the market in value for money. I imagine that professional photographers who depend on specific photoshop plug-ins will miss these at the beginning but they may find work-arounds. Continue with the good work Pixelmator team.

While I don't like Photoshop's interface and consider it counter intuitive to most Mac drawing tasks (it is a photo editor, not a graphics package), hats off to Pixelmator for providing a near-zero learn time for anyone familiar the Photoshop.

At 1/10 the price of Photoshop and easily 10 times faster at startup, Pixelmator is suitable for 80% of what Photoshop does. Most people who think they need Photoshop could do nicely and better with Pixelmator. It is definitely worth a try. I don't use Photoshop at work or at home any longer because of Pixelmator ... and liked this so much that I bought a personal copy instead of asking work to get my Photoshop upgrade.

This one is a real gem and I do not hesitate recommending it.
