Product Description:
RGB MusicLab converts RGB value of an image to Chromatic scale music (MIDI or AIFF file). And RGB MusicLab MIDI file is converted to the original image. The program reads RGB value of pixels from the top left to the bottom right of an image. One pixel makes a harmony of three note of RGB value, and the length of note is decided by brightness of the pixel. RGB value 120 or 121 is the center C, and RGB value 122 or 123 is added a half steps of the scale that is C#. Please listen samples on the developer's info site. It is not an impression of paintings or photographs of a composer. It reads a score from an image data directly.
What's new in this version:
- RGB Diagram was added in Color Range Editor. It shows mapping and quantities of RGB values in an image.
- Bug fixed: Right after drag-and-drop a new image, color range editor did not work correctly.

Can't even get it to launch. Running 10.4.11 on a G5 Dual 2GHz.

If I understand this correctly, the late NY singer Laura Nyro used something similar in technique way back in the cusp of the 1970s-and maybe later. She could not read or write a note of music-but could complete the basic structure of her song/melody on her piano.
She used to fill out the rest of the song to completion by telling her producer:
"I think we need a little green in this section, and at the end something like yellow"
It used to drive him crazy, but he finally got to understand her meanings, and would hire a harpist, bass player, saxophonist 12 string guitarist as the 'color' dictated and she usually approved etc...
(not to diminish your app,(way before there were apps) just interesting that this was her way of describing music via free-form association)
