Simply brilliant. I run this with menu eclipse or simply configure the mac menu to hide using presentyourapps and you've got a distraction free work space. You can turn any program into a distraction free program with Isolator. I've tried the others but this is the best out there.

@ DrLeonP: At the bottom of the isolator web page is this:
Contact & Donations
Bug reports, suggestions, etc to bdeb at willmore dot eu.
This is in large type. Perhaps you were expecting an email address that was formatted more to your liking rather than the "anti-email collecting spiders" defensive formatting that the developer used?
I haven't yet tried this but I certainly intend to tonight. It sounds like a great little utility.

I had to track down the developer. [Why Versiontracker does not have contact on the app's page or why the developer does not have contact information on his home page is a mystery.] The trick to avoiding the crash is to completely delete the previous version of Isolator. Delete the app and its pref file.
Then install the latest version. Unfortunately, you will have to do this every time you update.

I didn't know I could like a tiny piece of software that much! It's brilliant for making screenshots (I'm writing a book at the moment = loads of screenshots), cause I can set the background to white and it even covers my desktop icons. It also takes away that annoying drop shadow under the menu bar.
Ok, so that's not the main purpose why this thing was developed, but it sure is a great help for me. I definitely will donate some money to whoever made this... once my publisher pays me. :-)

this would be really great if it would work with spaces, but when I switch spaces, there are my distracting elements staring at me and they aren't there.
(I use it where it doesn’t hide everything, cuz that’s annoying to have to activate them all again...)

Instead why not just use a full screen for whatever you happen to be working or reading? That alone would cover the desktop and icons.

after checking autostart at login button. Apart from this a cool app.

The previous beta version worked fine. The latest one brings back the problem of the app hanging when setting preferences.

The beta and the current supposedly stable version are both crashing on my PowerBook G4 with 10.5.5. Previous versions worked fine. Trouble is I cannot set preferences because after I do, when I close the pref window, the app stalls and then crashes.
Please fix.
