Not being able to select multiple items really slows down the house cleaning. Shows a lot of potential otherwise but I can clear space faster in the finder at this point.

Really useful app. Fast and stable.

Emailed support with an issue that turned out to be user error and got an email back with the solution within 40 minutes. And this was at 10pm on a Sunday evening.

Highly recommended.

Great support!
Had a problem with the tool bar on version 1.1.6 on Leopard. Developer had a work around within 15 minutes and a New version 1.1.7 is already being downloaded on this link. Get this application now with the discount. The ability to compare the results with past scans, including the hidden files and instantly see what files are growing, compress a file to create space, and reveal a files location in the finder. I know of no other application that does this.

Two years ago I had an invisable var file in the System Folder that grew to 68 gigs on my PB G4. Filled all the disk space and slowed system to a crawl. Took me hours to find it, this would have found it in minutes.

AND ITS FAST!
Scanned 146 gigs in 2.5 minutes on Alum iMac.

Baseline ReviewI never would have known without Baseline! - Version: 1.0.1, 1/14/2008 04:44AM PST

I ran it for the first time about a month ago, getting my baseline. I had several GB of free space. This morning, my "Startup Disk was almost full", so I put Baseline to the test. After 10 minutes, it showed me the answer: Installation of GarageBand, iDVD and iMove had added over 6 GB of audio and video loops to /Library/Application Support, and in /private/var/vm, another 6 GB was being eaten by 12 swapfiles of 512 MB each. (I thought that swapfiles were only supposed to be 80 MB each?) Anyhow, I never would have suspected either of these hogs without BaseLine. It's easy to use, easy to understand, fast, and requires no configuration or setup. It just works. This app is great. I give 5 stars across the board. (Even though I didn't need it, I looked at the documentation just and it looks great too.)

Baseline ReviewA one-stop answer to the vexing disk space question - Version: 1.0.0, 11/13/2007 08:07AM PST

If you enable the root user, log in as the root user, and then run Baseline, it shows the contents of the normally invisible and inaccessible folders at the root level of the drive, .Spotlight-V100 and .fseventsd. These are both common locations for the unexpected consumption of disk space. It is really helpful to be able to navigate in the .Spotlight-V100 folder without having to use Terminal.

The details in the Baseline FAQ could be included in the Help.

Apple has a new Knowledge Base article about iDisk consuming unexpected disk space.

Sorry, I chose the wrong option in my previous post. Very unusual for a beta, but this is a 5 star product.

Baseline CommentaryThis is a huge step forward... - Version: 0.3.0, 11/5/2007 07:10AM PST

Andreas..
...in this genre of tool. With so many "where has my HD space gone?" posts in all the forums it looks as if the answer might soon be "Baseline will tell you".

It sounded moderately interesting. Seeing interest being expressed by the likes of MicroMat Tech3, Hal Itosis and now by Joemikeb, I thought I ought to have a look at it. It is FABULOUS. A complete scan for changes in just a few seconds, the ability to get rid of all the clutter and see only the changes, the ability to instantly toggle absolute and delta, the inclusion of /Volumes, etc - makes spotting things that could be of interest easy instead of, as in WhatSize, a huge pain.

I hope I haven't spoilt the pitch price-wise by being so enthusiastic! It needs to be very affordable to encourage users to switch from the *free* WhatSize.

Two entirely cosmetic, almost petty, -ve comments: debugging reporting should be switched off before releasing so that console.log doesn't fill up, and text box width (I think that's what it is) needs attention: I don't have an 'Application' directory in ~/Library! That truncation is only in Directory Tree View.
