Product Description:

The SpoofCard Widget from SpoofCardWidget.com allows you to change what people see as your Caller ID number when they receive your call. SpoofCard works with any number in the United States and Canada.

To use the widget, enter your 10 digit phone number in the "Your Number" field. You will be called back at this number and connected to the 10 digit number entered into the "Number To Call" field and they will see the 10 digit number you enter into the "Spoof Caller ID" field on their Caller ID display.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC

Additional Requirements:

That's why I have a TracFone. It shows up as reading that it's a secret number and is not available.

Well, it might not be spyware, but it isn't working for me anyway. I typed in my phone number, entered another number for it to spoof as the caller id, and then had it call me back — nevertheless my phone number still showed up on the caller ID.

And anyway, I can't help but wonder if our phone numbers are being collected, and if so, what nefarious purpose they might be used for w/o our knowledge, permission or consent.

I can think of 100 illegal uses for this software, and only a handful of legitimate uses. Not the developers fault, for sure (plenty of other programs out there that do the same thing) but it doesn't help the gullible ones out there to avoid pfishing scams by telephone. Guess Caller ID is now a useless feature.
