Working for me - Mac OS X 10.5.6, iPhone 2.2
Syphone is great, and it still works here. I wish it had a feature to export ALL messages, rather tahn one number at a time, but I'm glad we've got something.

Yup.
Micromat has abandoned this until they finish TechTool Pro.
They haven't updated this in almost a year.
They say it was originally for internal use only or some such nonsense.
Anyhow, send them an email. Tell them to tell their bosses to get their acts together on this one.

It seems MicroMat won't talk about the future of the product except to say they are considering the future of the product.
It seems that iTunes 8.1 changed the way the database is written or something, and Syphone can no longer read it. Basically, if you update to iTunes 8.1, you won't be able to back up your iPhone texts any more until it's fixed (which it probably won't be).
If anyone is interested in giving product suggestions for a COMPETITIVE product that WORKS, please leave them here.
For example, the features I would most like to see are:
The ability to search,
The ability to export the entire database for backup
It's a shame-it was a good product.
Thanks.
