MobileSyncBrowser CommentaryNEW VERSION - Version: 3.1b1, 8/2/2009 06:05PM PST

madeleinediaz
MobileSyncBrowser is used to retrieve data automatically stored inside iTunes every time the iPhone was synchronized to the computer. MSB will recover all information, notes, contacts, call history and SMS messages, in case the device gets lost, broken or stolen. Visit MSB at: http://homepage.mac.com/vaughn/msync/ Important note: 3.1 beta releases (e.g. 3.1b1) users should bear in mind that, as pre-release test copies, they are limited to running for a maximum of 15 days, when the next test cycle begins. In addition to English, MSB includes Spanish, French and German support when it runs on systems in those languages. Be aware that MSB will work for iPhones in any language; however, the application contains those four to display the menus and the text. For instance, if you use MSB for an Italian iPhone, the information will display in Italian because MSB does not include that language support. If you have questions or comments, please write back directly to Vaughn at audiobinder@mac.com, or reply to my email. Thank you for your help. -- Madeleine D. Quilichini, e: mad_copy@yahoo.com

MobileSyncBrowser ReviewGet Your iPhone Notes Back! - Version: 0.8.25, 10/20/2008 10:52AM PST

This is a dummy-proof way to read your backed-up iPhone Notes files that are "lost" when your phone is reformatted. The interface is simple, no hacking is required--it just scans and finds your files. Once you register, you can re-install the files, but I haven't done that yet...
Great product.

Just tried, liked and donated $10

Very fast scan, all notes contacts and logs appeared almost immediately. Worth the money to be able to copy text from my notes. Clever way to do the job.

MobileSyncBrowser ReviewI dunno but... - Version: 0.5, 10/17/2007 10:52PM PST

...waiting for 3-4 min for the feedback bar to say it's 75% done scanning is a little too much to handle. That's when it got killed.....Ok, OK so I re-launched, and waited and waited. Got my iPhone scanned ...then viewed my SMS's ....(BTW,scroll bar doesn't work) ...then watched the CPU race to 90%. Thanks but no thanks.

MobileSyncBrowser CommentaryDonationware but it's crippled - Version: 0.5, 10/14/2007 04:38AM PST

bgerson
I have some issues after downloading the product:

1. I fail to see why if "This preview version has been released for feedback." you've crippled it in any way. It's beta.

2. Why isn't there any way within the application to contact you or access a website?

3. Why isn't there any documentation with the application covering usage or version history or any links?

4. Why isn't there any easy way to pay for this product so that the features are accessible? "Free Preview: Full version can archive, view, copy and export all records found." doesn't give me the information I need to make any donation (unless the features aren't really there yet).

5. It's VERY slow to load and I only have 288 contacts, 13 SMS messages, 24 calls and 2 notes.

If all you need is SMS backup, use Syphone.

I tried to run MobileSyncBrowser on my MacBook Pro, running OS 10.4.10. All it would do was give me this message:

"An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled, The application must shut down."

... and then quit, when I clicked on the "Okay" button.

MobileSyncBrowser Reviewnice app for my thoughts - Version: 0.1, 9/20/2007 09:55PM PST

Vaughn, thanks for giving me access to my SMS text messages. I usually burn through my 1000 entries and I am glad I can finally gain access to them and store them. You've created a nice simple app for me to collect my memories. Thanks for making it easy for me to get to them. I welcome your development efforts with my donation.

Cheers,

MobileSyncBrowser ReviewVersion 0.1 Alpha Limits to 10 SMS - Version: 0.1, 9/20/2007 01:07PM PST

The problem this software is meant to solve is that you have a lot of SMS messages.

This software only exports 10.

If you go to the homepage http://homepage.mac.com/vaughn/msync/ he's asking for donations (and if you send one he'll send you an uncrippled version) but if your donation is for less than what he decides to charge, you won't get anything towards an actual license.

This is one of the dumbest licensing schemes I've heard of yet.

The current version is so raw it's hard to even call it an alpha, and we can't test the functionality, but we should send you money to get a version that might do what you say it will do but it won't count towards the eventual purchase price?

So what you're trying to do is get people to send you more than they figure that you'll charge to the final version, just to be safe?

No thanks. I'll wait for at least a more functional demo.
