Apple Logic Studio ReviewGetting there...... - Version: 1.0, 9/22/2007 02:44PM PST

This is a good package. For the price you get a lot, including Logic Pro8, Mainstage etc....and most of the Jam Packs, even Extreme Digital+HipHop packs from the EMagic days.
I'm used to Logic Pro 7, but I like the new interface, with the keyboard assignments, it's easy to get around. Midi editing is easier, as well as other things.
However, there are a few things I noticed, like handling audio files. Different file formats have to be converted to new format, using up more file (disk) space. When I opened up an older Logic song (back then I had a digi001 using Direct I/O), there was no way to switch the track to Core Audio, as I could before in Logic Pro 7. I had to open up new tracks and convert the data, then deleting the old track. Quite annoying ! The whole window greyed out on me once, but not frozen. I had to quit Logic and start again, then everything seems fine.
I'm sure Apple will fix these "bugs" in future updates.
Generally I like this, and it's really a nice major upgrade. I think the newer look and features, ease of use together with the fact that it's less expensive than older Logic Pros, will get quite a few people to switch from other DAWs. Keep up the good work !

I was watching a video on Logic Studio (macprovideo) and I really like allot of the new interface features that are being offered in this version. It looks easier to use and is a complete overhaul of the old Logic Pro. If you look at the website you can see what other programs are being offered in this package like compressor, impulse response utility, apple loops utility, wave-burner, main-stage, soundtrack pro, and more. There is support for surround sound in many of the plugins and mixing in surround. Check out some of the free vids of it at macprovideo.com under logic pro tips and tricks.
