JollysFastVNC Commentaryusefull vnc - Version: 1.04, 2/7/2010 05:23AM PST

Hi,

This time the autor make it work fine. After some exchange with him (verry fast respond) and testing is work in progress now, the access to deadkey genereted character for canadian french is ok and the capslock bug is gone.

I think even if the price is high for that type of utility, I think it's worth it. Now that we can write with it, it's the best vnc on the market. I hope he will add now some features in next versions.

I use VNC everyday at work to connect from Mac to PC and vise versa, and I've tried every Mac client out there. As far a speed goes, I never found JFVNC to be particularly fast unless I gave up a lot in image quality. Best client/server combo that I've tried is the enterprise version of RealVNC (http://www.realvnc.com/). (For some reason, its not tracked on VersionTracker.) Part of the reason that its faster is that its a matched client/server combo.

JollysFastVNC ReviewI decided to purchase it - Version: 1.02, 1/16/2010 01:35PM PST

I think the price is a bit high for what the program does, but I decided to buy this app anyway (taking advantage of the 30% discount that's offered post-1.0 release - that brought the cost down to $28). I need a VNC app fairly often, and this one is significantly better than the many others I've tried. The two killer features for me are the video scaling (done very well), and the fact that it's noticeably more responsive (meaning at the remote end) than other VNC apps I've tried.

For comparison's sake: I'm generally running VNC sessions over a cable modem ~ 16mbps down, 1-2 mbps up.

I hope, as this app develops, the focus continues to be on responsiveness and usability rather than adding minimally useful extra "features".
